Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

A couple days ago, Erin started a thread with an important tip. I added something to that tip. Some stupid things got said, then the thread got hijacked and the mods moved it to Mouse Chat.
But the tips are very important, so, here they are again.
Once you've made all your ADRs and other reservations, you can get a printed itinerary at your Disney resort when you check in. This can either be done at the main desk or the lobby concierge. Additionally, available to concierge level guests, the hotel concierges are able to e-mail your itinerary to you as a .pdf, and this is available at least 3 months out. I don't see why central reservations and WDW-DINE would not be able to do that for all of the guests, but I have no experience, so can't say.
We cannot stress how important it is to make sure that all of your reservations are correct several times before you actually arrive, as mistakes and mishaps do happen to a small percentage of WDW guests.

Great tip! We do this as soon as we get to the hotel. That just gives us one last reminder of what we have planned.

Very good tip. I knew that guest services in the parks were able, did not realize the front desk could print up events.

Re: Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

Just a quick addition to this tip, be sure to have them print out the reservations you make under all your different names and phone numbers! I make and change ADRs so often that I always end up using different names (I have a "real name" and a nickname that I go by) and different phone numbers (cell, home) unintentionally... . So when I ask them to print out all of my ADRs, they always have to go through each name and phone number to get them all. It's a pain. I should learn my lesson. But I don't, so just in case anyone is as slow as me, FYI!

Good tip, I'm sorry that thread got nasty, a good example of it's not what you say but how you say it. We've had Guest Services print our ADRs a couple of times when we checked in, it's a nice way to double check everything,

Re: Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

The other thread didn't get poofed, it got moderated out to Mouse Chat because it was hijacked so badly it didn't fit into this part of the forum. A good clue was it grew from 3 to 7 pages in a half hour. I had to search to find it myself.
I also don't think anyone has anything to say they're sorry about.

Re: Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

These are excellent tips indeed. Thank you for reposting the thread soundgod. Apologies are in order. The thread jacking seriously is at an all time high right now. Maybe we should all think a bit before we post. Look at me jacking talking about jacking..sorry.

To add to the tips: you should call and check your ADR's one week after making them (this is a good way to check long before it's to late..plenty of time to still get the ones you want). It is also good practice to call 2 weeks prior to departure and check them once more just in case. It also is nice to ask guest service to print them out for you once you arrive and check in at your resort.

Re: Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

No there were no hard feelings at all in the other thread. It just turned into a completely goofy conversation that had nothing to do with the original post. It definitely belonged in ChitChat at that point.

Thanks for reposting this tip Soundgod!

Re: Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

Not to be nosey, (no pun intended!!!) but I tried to access this thread earlier today because I thought Erins tip was a good one and wanted to remember it for our upcoming trip and I was being denied access. I am not trying to thread jack, but why couldn't I access it earlier?

Anyways, Erin & Soundgod, thanks for the reposting, I found your trip tips very useful!!!!

Re: Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

I had the concierge desk print out my list on my last trip and it was a godsend! I had all my ADR's on my different daily itineraries but it was great to have them on one sheet with some info on each restaurant as well.

This was a great tip!

Re: Erin's "Did you know this?" thread.

I don't know about you guys, but my main planning document is a Word .doc with individual pages for each day with lines for the times of the day. When something is scheduled, it gets listed for that time. Any shows, meals, special events. I also put together a summary sheet of all dining and tour reservation numbers and times with locations, this includes room reservations as well. I then add in a page on the EMH days, locations, times, and attractions. Top it with a cover sheet of the master day calender and add in some finacial pages and that's it.

I've already attached my blank dayplanner so I will post the link here and you can use that as a guide.

I do this same type of word doc, too. I break out each day, where we will be each day, which park, which restaurants, ressie #'s, parade times. I also do a recap of all the park hours and which park for that day is an extra magic hour on a separate sheet so if we are a park and want to hop mid evening, we just just pull out my handy dandy hours recap and see which park stays open the latest. I usually get the entire thing laminated and (sometimes bound) at our local office depot and stick it in the backpack. I laminate it because one year we had about an hours worth of rain on our 2nd day of our trip and my itinerary got soaked! Live and learn, lol!

What a great link! When I first looked at it, it really appealed to me, but I think my DH would LEAVE ME IN WDW and head for home if he saw me with a daily plan like that, lol. He likes to think he is spontaneous, heehee.
