Hi, can any of you tell me about the Backyard BBQ? When does it run? What characters are there? Etc. Would love to hear from all you Disney Pros!! THANKS!! Amy:)

Unfortunately I have never been there, but watchig this thread I was hoping someone had, and could tell a little about it. I love BBQ and especially Ribs :p mmmm. If any of you have eaten there, can you tell us a bit about it, if it's Good BBQ or just so so? And as she asked...when it is usually open? Curious to know.

there is another thread some where that tells all the info. go to search in type the name and you should be able to find it. Personally I haven't eaten there but you could also check www.wdwig.com and it always has great info.

Yep, there was another thread, but for time's sake...

It's our favorite dinner show at WDW. It's all you can eat ribs, hot dogs, chicken, corn-on-the-cob, etc & the food's not bad. We had Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Chip & Dale dressed in western outfits. They actually came out & line-danced with the audience, as well as signed autographs & such. The band is pretty good, & they have a couple of other things for entertainment as well. The nice thing is you don't feel tied down to your tables. The kids can run around quite a bit, & everyone can linedance...& they even teach you how! We loved it. Planning on doing it again in August.

I'd really like to do this, I'm going to have to search and find out all the info on it. I know it's got to be seasonal. I wonder if it's outside or inside, and where it's at. We're going to try the campfire w/Chip and Dale this trip. We may have to try this on a weekend when we go down!! It sounds yummy and fun!!

It is seasonal. It is on Tues and Thurs's I believe. I'm not sure which months it runs though. It is definetly during the summer months. We are going in August.

It's in a pavillion that is open on the sides, but with a nice strong roof to keep out those FL showers! Make sure to make reservations, though. And then get there as early as you can...the seating is on first-come first-seated. If you want to be right up front, you need to get in early.

We are doing the BBQ in July when we (DH, 5 year old DS and inlaws) go. It sounds like a blast. My BIL and his wife went last year on the 4th of July and had a good time. They are picky eaters and said the food was very good and the 'show' was very fun. I can't wait.

Well, we're going to be there on July 3rd and 4th. I should call and find out if there is one going on during those two days! That would be cool to try this then!

It's good to know there is a cover over it, to protect from the rain!!!

What is special about being up front? Is that where all the action is?

I've done some reading on prior posts here, and saw someone mentioned a problem w/getting out of Ft Wilderness after the BBQ. I guess it got over so late that the boats didn't run anymore? Anyone else experience this problem? Did you have any problems w/transportation when leaving? What time does it start/end? Do you know if there is different times for this, or just one seating time? I'm going to call about it this weekend, to see about going during the 4th of July, I just can't call from work since it's long distance.

Yeah, I just like to be able to have a clear shot of what's going on on the dance floor without doing the back & forth thing to dodge other people's heads blocking my view. And not only that, if I'm close enough I don't have to wear my glasses!!!:laugh

According to deb's site www.wdwig.com it's from March thru November so you should be OK

I went to mickey's bbq the second week of Nov. Make sure to bring a coat, quite cool at night. It was very crowded and I think next time I will be going to the hoop dee doo rather than the bbq.
