Tusker House YUK!

We had lunch at the tusker house Monday 11/27/2006. We had flown all night on a red eye from California, grabbed a quick nap and caught the first bus to leave. By chance it was the Animal Kingdom bus. We were all starved (2 adults 4 kids) After walking around the AK we went to the Tusker House. My husband got a salad he said his was OK. I got the Turkey wrap and chowder. The chowder was OK, but the turkey wrap had some awful spread the just ruined the entire wrap. Everyone tried it and we all agreed it was just nasty. My daughter got the salmon and hated it. My DH who loves salmon said it was bad. My 2 youngest kids got the kids meal chicken legs. Those were OK. Thank goodness my daughter didn't eat her Mac and Cheese so I got it. I am glad I was on the dining plan because I would have been seriously warped to pay $65 for the food. We are going back to AK today to ride everest. I plan on trying the flaming tree bbq.

Re: Tusker House YUK!

Wow, that is really unfortunate! I ate at Tusker House last month, and it was fabulous (my mom and I split the salmon; my husband had the half chicken; kids had the chicken leg). Perhaps it was just an off day. Any other reports on back sliding at Tusker House? I am curious, as based on our last trip it is now a "must do."

I have eaten at Tusker House about 10 times, always fabulous. I always get the chicken though, freshly made, always wonderful. Sorry you had a bad experience, good luck on the next choice!

Re: Tusker House YUK!

Gee Robin, sorry you had such a bad time. You'll find lots of people here who love Tusker House, but I myself have not tried it yet.

We can all have bad experiences. I had bad breakfast at Chef Mickeys last year and it has tainted my opinion ever since then, even though it gets rave reviews from everyone.

Re: Tusker House YUK!

I think I am going to be the only person on this thread to agree with you!
We ate Tusker House once after only eating at Flame Tree BBQ in AK for trip after trip and we just were NOT happy with it. I think we both got the chicken and ranch sandwich and it was just disgusting. Neither one of us could eat it and trust me my DH can eat ANYTHING....
I think you should defineatly try Flame Tree...we LOVE it there and we will never NOT eat there again. I like the Pulled Beef Sandwhich and the Chicken and Dave is a fan of the ribs and the chicken..yummy..makes me wish i was there now!

Re: Tusker House YUK!

Sorry you had a bad experience at TH...I love TH and have always had a yummy experience.

One thing that I have noticed over the past 2 years is the counter service food quality has been on a steady decline.

I had a bad experience with Chef Mickey's dinner - It was inedible. I mean the food was disgusting!!! I will never go again even though people on here seem to love it - I just can't bring myself to go back.

I think TH is okay - flame tree was REALLY good. Sorry you had a bad eperience, Robin. Hope you have fun today!!

Sorry you had such a bad experience at tusker house. The rotisserie chicken there is REALLY good and I love their mashed potatoes. Those turkey wraps have been presented in many of the quick services places and I heard they are consistantly yucky.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We have not tried here yet but this is one of the first bad reviews I have seen about this restaurant. Perhaps the chef was having an 'off day'. Whatever the reason I am sorry and I hope the rest of your meals are good ones!

Re: Tusker House YUK!

I use to say Flame Tree was the best CS place in WDW. However, since they got rid of the BBQ Chicken sandwhich, I've only found the place to be Ho Hum! We are planning on trying Tusker House this trip.

Re: Tusker House YUK!

Well on a follow up note, I ate lunch the next day at Cosmic Ray's and had the Turkey Bacon wrap and it was GOOD!!! No freaky flavored dressing.

Re: Tusker House YUK!

rshenry... I am so sorry you had a bad meal at Tusker House! We love it!!!

For breakfast, we always get those gigantic, fresh-baked cinnamon rolls!!! MMMMMMM. We have also gotten the full breakfast platter, which we've shared among all of us, it is so big and good!

For lunch, we order chicken off the rotisserie and a big salad, and it is always yummy. Really, really great.

But honestly, I hate salmon, and I hate mayonnaise, so it is totally possible that I have just always avoided those bad meals at most restaurants.

As with most of the others, we are sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at TH. We make that our annual stop for lunch when we go to AK. We have always had the chicken, and never had a bad meal.
