Help Us With Our ADR Choices

We're down to less than a week and then we can call to make our dining reservations. I can't believe how fast the time has come.

Here's what we have in mind so far. What do you think? Oh, we have the dining plan for 9 nights. Two adults, and 2 boys (14 & 7).

Table Service:
Places we've never been to:
Whispering Canyon for dinner
Mama Melrose with Fantasmic Package
Biergarten in Germany
Coral Reef- any comments? Thought it would be cool for the kids to eat with a view of the aquarium.

Place we've eaten at prior and want to go back to:
Teppanyaki in Japan
Crystal Palace for breakfast
Fulton's (pay out of pocket, but DH and DS just love the King Crab Claws)

Counter Service:
Earl of Sandwich
Columbia Harbor House
ABC Commissary
Electric UmbrellaTusker House
Some place at Blizzard Beach- any suggestions?

I really have to step it up a notch and start planning our days. I just looked and saw that Disney.com has July hours posted, so that's going to help a lot.

We'll be there for 10 days, with park hopper. Anyone have other good suggestions?

I don't have any suggestions since I've never been there, but I just wanted to tell you The Columbia Harbor House looks almost just like my house.

Really? We enjoyed the tuna sandwiches there last time. And we got there just before the lunch rush, so it wasn't at all crowded. Timing and a little bit of luck are what you need in planning when and where to eat.

When we are at Disneyland we usually try to eat after the rush, lunch around 2 or 3 and dinner around 8 or 9.

We're just the opposite. Lunch as soon as they start serving 11-11:30 and dinner around 5-6pm. Can you guess? We're early risers and with 2 kids, we never eat dinner that late.

Coral Reef was my favorite meal on our trip. I think you'll enjoy it! However, we were on the very end, and while our view of the aquarium wasn't bad, it wasn't the best. (Our server was fantastic, for what that's worth.)

Did you eat there for lunch or dinner? And at what time? We try to make the earliest dinner time possible, like 5pm. So maybe if we're lucky we'll get a better table with a good view.

Although not listed.....my vote is always for Ohana's dinner!!! Love it Love it Love it!!!!

As far as Coral Reef, we weren't real impressed when we went. I felt being able to view the aqarium during dinner was overrated since it was just a different side of the same one you see from inside the Living Seas. But I have heard many positive reviews about it around here.

Your ADRs look really good.

I always wanted to try Fulton's but Dh is not a big seafood eater, maybe I can talk him into it on our next trip.

Re: Help Us With Our ADR Choices

I like your choices. I bet the boys will love Whispering Canyon. That's always a hit with my crowd.

Although I've been a gazillion times, I still haven't tried Mama Melrose's or the Coral Reef. I'm anxious to hear your opinion.

Re: Help Us With Our ADR Choices

Your choices look yummy. We were thinking of trying Mama Melrose's this time around.

You will enjoy WC. Make sure at least one meal requires ketchup!

Donald's Breakfastosaurus at AK is always a must for us. We get an ADR for around 8-8:30 and when we are finished Dinoland has just opened. Walked right onto Dinasour several times. Haven't been there since Everest opened so not sure what we are going to do first.

Have fun planning!

Definately try O'hana's! Food was great and it was fun.

We ate Coral Reef in Sept and LOVED it! We're seafood lovers too, and everything we tried was cooked perfectly (I had the salmon, dh had the grouper) and the portions were a reasonable size. We were lucky enough to sit next to the aquarium with a huge sea turtle watching us. I'd definitely go back again.

And try the chocolate wave for dessert.

Your plans look great! What are your dates? I'm just starting to plan our July trip and can make ADRs soon, I can't wait.

Re: Help Us With Our ADR Choices

I think your choices look great (I wish I was going!), but have you considered Rose and Crown? We ate there our last trip and made the 7:30 pm reservation so we could be outside for Illuminations. We could not have been happier with our choice -- food was great, and view could not be beat (we had a table next to the water). I must admit that my suggestion is based in part on the fact that we have gone to Coral Reef and did not enjoy it as much as we thought because it was so LOUD (which was compounded by the fact that the tables were very close together)!!! If you have older kids, they may not like how loud it is, or how many little kids are there. The food is good, but a bit expensive. But I cannot remember if it is one or two credits on the dining plan. Rose and Crown is one credit.
