Re: Snacking around the World Favorites

Gosh, this is hard for me - we're not snackers. We ended up buying bags of candy to take home as gifts, to use up our snacks. But when we do snack, my very favourite is getting a "cloudberry cream horn" in the bakery in Norway - or a pastry in La Boulangerie in France.

Are these "eligible" snacks on the meal plan?

That sounds funny, makes it sound like we're on some kind of diet. I thought it was only things like ice cream bars, popcorn, and Coke that were allowed.

I believe the new policy is anything under $4. (Oh, how I HOPE that is the policy.)

We got full size sundaes at Mrs. Potts ice cream shop in Fantasyland in MK, we also used some snack credits for a whole box of entemanns donuts for breakfast and a big bag of doritos, both from the resort gift shop.

We only ran into trouble in the Confectionary. Tried to buy some cookies (around $3) and they wouldn't ring up on the plan. The CM was fairly apathetic and just said that "some things are on it, some things aren't, there's no good reason."

I ran into the same CM I believe..honestly Cavey MOST things are especially at snack carts and real "eating" places..places like the bakery and confectionery are a little bit..i dunno "specialized" maybe? Some of those things are not on the plan.
However, Zebra Domes in the Mara at AKL are. And that's all I needed to get by!

So..on with the real question:
My favorite places to use snack credits around the world...
Aloha Isle for a Dole Whip
Popcorn Carts
The aforementioned Zebra Domes
Rice Crispy Treats shaped like Mickey Heads
Goofy Candy Co. Gummy Bears
Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches at snack carts
Funnel Cake in the American Pavillion

The only place that is tough to tell whats a snack credit and what isn't is in the World Showcase..I cant remember what we actually paid for there and what we used as a snack option. We also went during Food and Wine Fest and all of the stands took the snack option....but I do know that everything that is a snack is labeled with the little purple dining plan sign.

Exactly a month ago. These were just some prepackaged cookies, decorated like characters. The GOOD cookies WERE on the plan.

When we were there in September we were able to get our Dole Whips, boxes of cookies and snacks under $4 at the store at the Wilderness Lodge where we stayed and cookies...can't remember where. We tried to use them in France for some pastries, but they told us they weren't an eligible DP item. Most CM's told us the same thing about anything under $4 was OK.

Hope some others can add to this list of "legal" snacks!
