where to get away?!
I LOVE Disney. I want everyone to know that. But where can I go to get a good drink, and just get away from all the Disney stuff. My family is going to be at the parks for a little over a week and my husband and i will NEED a place to unwind for a hour or so. One note we really don't like going to pleasure island, too busy.

Re: where to get away?!
Our favorite place to go at night is Jellyrolls at the BW. It is crowed most nights (sing along dueling pianos) fun and relaxing. If you are looking for quiet, any of the deluxe resorts have lounges (bars) that are quiet for a nice drink and conversation.

Re: where to get away?!
I agree Jellyrolls is good, but even more casual then that is one of the bar areas in the Swan or Dolphin neither of these resorts blow Disney in your face, yet they are somehow seperated from reality, lol. It is too bad they took the Copa Bannana out of the Dolphin, that was my favorite hideaway during conferences, but alas it is gone. If hubby is a sports fan the ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk is also a good getaway, not too Disney and enough sports to keep a grown man happy.
Of course with all those choices you are paying Disney prices for drinks. If you have a car there must be some spots nearby.

Re: where to get away?!
I'd strongly suggest the Dolphin. You could try the bar at todd english's bluezoo. You could probably even go to the bar at California Grill, but I'd call about that first. There's a bar adjacent to Ohana that's kind of dark. Although it's at DTD, there is House of Blues.

Re: where to get away?!
I love Jellyrolls (more than your average bear), but it isn't "relaxing" per se. One of my favorite, favorite, favorite places to kick back at WDW is in a hammock (usually with a frozen margarita). The beach at the poly (grab a drink from the pool bar) is lovely, and, if you have a couple of hours in the afternoon, Coronado Springs is ideal for a hammock nap.
Belle Vue at the Boardwalk is nice, I agree. And Victoria Falls Lounge at Animal Kingdom Lodge is interesting. I'm trying to think of lounges with great views (sunsets and the like). Tambu Lounge at the poly is great, but can get crowded with families when 'Ohana is busy. The BEST place to chill out is California Grill, but you have to have a dinner ressie.

Re: where to get away?!
how about going to one of the resorts that you are least likely to stay at and have a drink there? It can be that its too expensive (what I would do) or that it is just something you were never impressed with and check it out.

Re: where to get away?!
There is a lounge in the Yacht Club that is nice and quite. I guess where you go depends on where you are staying.

Re: where to get away?!
I've not been to JellyRolls, but I can tell you the entire BoardWalk in the evening is romantic and relaxing. I love to just walk along and look around. Plenty of eateries and shopping there too. Not a lot of kids (which make my noisey 3-some stand out even more!).

I haven't been in the bar at WL but it's never loud or busy when we have walked by.

Re: where to get away?!
it's not exactly romantic or relaxing but we love the bar at Rose and Crown. We always make a point to stop in for a pint!

Re: where to get away?!
I find that wherever I go on vacation I can find a favorite quiet spot. I am an early riser (I start work at 6am) and have trouble sleeping late on vacation, so I'm usually up early exploring and can usually find my favorite spot for the week. A lot of resort bars (maybe not WDW, but other places) will let you take a drink to go. DH and I usually find a quiet corner and just sit for half an hour.

Re: where to get away?!
My two FAVORITE night-time places are Jellyrolls and the River Roost Lounge at POR (on a night when BOB is performing)...neither of those places, however, can be classified as "relaxing" but it's a great place for some evening fun. And, the POR show is VERY kid friendly!! We

There is a great candy shop, bakery, nice restaurants (Spoodles is our fav ). There are some smaller vendors with food and treats. A couple games - there are arcades at the both the Beach Club and Boardwalk. In the evening, there are street performers. It is more of a laid-back relaxing time for the parents rather than a diversion for the kids. We usually end our night with a tour around the Boardwalk before we call it a night.
