Question #1 regarding dining plan:

Scenario: We are dining at a restaurant that requires 2 table service credits, (eg. Citricos), with 2 adults and 2 children.

Is it possible to use the dining plan for the 2 adults and pay out of pocket for the children's meals?

It doesn't make sense to me to use 2 table service credits for the children when the most expensive item on the children's menu is only $7.00.


Question #2:
If I understand correctly, when we purchase the dining plan for our family of 4 we would get 4 TS and 4 CS credits per day of our stay. Does anyone know if these are 2 adult TS and 2 child TS per day, or just 4 TS per day? Can you see where I'm going with this? If we eat at Citricos and pay out of pocket for the children, can we use their TS credits that we didn't use as adult TS credits?

Does that question make sense?

We paid out of pocket several times for our son. He's picky so it's just easier to pay for what he wants and not get all the extras he won't eat.

All of your credits will be grouped together. Your card will tell the CMs how many people are on the plan and if they are adults or children but all the credits are grouped. In reality you can use them how you like.

So that means that we could in fact use the children's credits for adults?

I agree with DT. You can use your credits however you want. It doesn't make any sense to use two TS credits when kids meals as so inexpensive.

All the credits are pooled together, how you use them is up to you. I will warn you this is kind of a hot topic on some boards.....like the reusable mugs.

I'm confused. I thought the credits were differentiated by adult and child - so you could only order child meals with the child credit. If not, what's to stop someone from leaving the kids with a babysitter one night and using their childs portion of the credit on the adults meal (did that make sense?) - so the adults would get more credits? Or did I totally misunderstand the answer to this question?

I am hoping for free dining when we go, so it doesn't really affect me - we have it all planned out pretty much. Just curious if I had totally misunderstood! THanks!

There is nothing in place right now to stop a family from using child credits for adult meals, at least that was the case and I haven't heard of Disney closing this loophole.

Interesting! I would have thought Disney would have had all those details worked out to stop that! Hmm. Like you said, everyone can do what they feel comfortable doing, I guess. Thanks for the info!

Not anymore. There was thread a few weeks ago. WDW wisely closed this loophole. Meals are now designated Child and Adult. So in the case of our family, the "pool" is 14 FS Adult Credits and 14 FS Child Credits.

Well, now I feel stupid because I can't find it anywhere. Even allearsnet.com doesn't address it. But I KNOW it was recently posted, and I was pleased with that move, as I felt it was a bit dishonest IYKWIM.

You are right, I went looking and found some info on another site. I wasn't here much over Christmas and must have missed it.
