Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
Hey All!
I was just reading through my Foder's Disney 2007 book and it made mention that 90% of dining in Disney is casual dress. But there's supposedly a handful of "Pricey Spots" that require a jacket for the guys. Any ideas which restaurants these may be? |

Hey Soxx, welcome to mouse buzz. I'll be your tour guide today. Stay close and please don't feed da Bears (fans).
To you question: I know Victoria and Albert's requires a jacket.

Thanks Boss..
much appreciated! I'm not a jacket guy myself when on vacation, but with the Disney Dining package and the chance to try some new restaurants it might be worth stuffing a jacket in the 'ole suitcase.

Re: Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
I read some reviews about some of the 2 table service restaurants. Several reviewers seemed annoyed that the suggested dress code (I don't think any said coats) was not adhered to - they said people were even wearing tank tops in the restaurant, it kinda souded like most of them (V&A excluded) aren't super strict about it. You could ask when you make your ADR - they might know! Have fun! Let us know where you are planning to go - everytime I see someone's plans, I get all excited for them (ok, for me!)! Have fun!!

Re: Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
Thanks Ema!
Right now Sandy and I are in pre-planning mode. We have a lot of time till September so we are just jotting down some nice places we might like to try. A lot will depend on whether or not they offer the free dining in September this year. We are hoping they do because we are doing a lot of work on our house over the summer and had to scrape to get enough to book this trip. (and we still haven't paid for the air yet) If we have any $$ left we might throw the disney dining plan on anyway if they don't offer it for free. We have no kids, unless you count Brandi our New Zealand Shepherd, Shilo our Red Tick Hound, or Jakob, Cookie & Sugar our 3 cats Our agent mentioned they should know by April or March if it's being offered again. -Keith

I know that we were looking up different restaurants on the Disney World website and when you clicked on a restaurant it would tell you if there is a dress code or not.

Re: Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
First and foremost...Welcome to Mousebuzz!!!!!
I know Victoria and Alberts is "jacket" required and it counts as 2 TS credits. I have never been there but it sounds amazing and would love to try it one day! Also, California Grill on top of the Contemporary is "business casual". Which means no jeans and t-shirts apperantly. This is what they told me at Disney Dining once and I wasn't too thrilled with that so I switched my ADR to something else. But I have heard on here that it's not really enforced at the door.

Re: Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
I do not think V & A are w/the plan. The Dining Plan was awsome in helping us try new resturants. As for the dress codes - it's nice to get dolled up once in a while.

Re: Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
My understanding and experience to date is that the only one "requiring" a jacket if V & A. The other 2 point dinner restaurants all allow casual, but dressing is encouraged. We look on it as a chance to dress a little but my husband won't bring a jacket on vacation. He'll go with nice pants and collared shirt & dress shoes. The boys went with nice shorts & sandles but not "board shorts" and both wore short sleeved collared shirts. I enjoy the chance to pull out the heels and a great little dress.
They frown upon the flip-flop, tank top version of casual but I have seen them. BTW - we loved Citricos for our "Date Night" without the kids. Even pulled out the makeup and perfume! And witnessed an engagement at the next table that brought tears to the eyes.

Re: Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
Nice information there big guy. But if you were Really good, those restaurants would be hyper-linked.
It is this attention to detail that gets one their own parade.

Re: Pricey Restaurants that require Jackets for Men
Only V&A have a strict dress code. My experience with the others has been shorts are acceptable, just not cut offs. Tee shirts are allowed, though I guess they're frowned on. If you have a solid color tee shirt, they'll have no problems, but if you want to be nice, wear a collared polo shirt. Sneakers are ok, no sandals or flip flops for men, but again, sandals seem to be tolerated. Jeans, well, if they aren't ripped up and faded to white in places. I have also seen men in jacket and tie and women in cocktail dresses, but it is "resort" casual.
