contemporary resort restaurant questions

I forget which restaurant (California Grill or Concourse Steakhouse (I think that's the name) ) uses 2 TS. Does anyone know, and which of the 2 did you like?

I've never been to California Grill (although I'd love to!) but I have been to Concourse Steakhouse--twice and though it was great both times!

Re: contemporary resort restaurant questions

It is California Grill and it's the best place to watch the MK fireworks display. I've done it before and it was awesome. Just be sure when you make your ADR that you ask the CM to get you a time that would coincide with the display. Happy eating!!

And don't cut it too close. Ask for a seating at least 30 minutes (maybe more) before the fireworks. People tend to lollygag when it's close to fireworks time, and not leave their table. If fireworks are set for 10pm, we like to ask for 9 or 9:15pm. That way, even if they're running behind, we'll be seated in time.
Enjoy! Everything there is really good!

If you plan to do this, you'd best be sure of what time the shows are. Don't ever trust a WDW Dine CM to know anything about what's happening in the parks. In October 2005 we had plans to dine at California Grill at 9:30, which would have been fine for the scheduled 10 PM performance. Except for one little thing. WDW changed the time for Wishes from 10 to 9 and they'd only changed it the day before, plus the web site and some other places still announced Wishes at 10 PM. Imagine my horror as we walked out of our lodge at the Poly at 9:01 to see a group gathered on the beach watching Wishes an hour early! Also, take into account that during the hard ticket parties, fireworks in the MK is virtually always 9:30. Wishes however, is performed as early as 6PM and as late as 10PM. Some nights during winter, there are two shows, Wishes just after sundown, or rather as soon as the sky is black enough and Holiday Wishes during the party that is scheduled for that night.

The CG is 2 TMs and worth it. The service, the food, everything was excellent.

Re: contemporary resort restaurant questions

I'm in the minority, apparently; I was less than impressed with the California Grill (too dated, trying too hard, nothing made me say "wow"), and the view of Wishes was fine, but nothing compared to watching the fireworks on Main Street.
