Anybody have the beignets at.......?

Sassagoula Floatworks&Food Factory and the
Port Orleans Resort? Just wondering how they
stack up to the "real things" of New Orleans

When we stayed at the POFQ 10 years ago they were very comparable but I have not had them recently- Ill let you know in two weeks what I think!

I had them years ago too, and they were pretty good.

I can't say how they stacked up though, since I've never had the "real things".

the real thing is the ultimate- with white powder all up your nose and down your shirt and the balmy breeze of NO and the sipping of the chickoree coffee while sitting on a bench on the water.... NOTHING LIKE IT! Even better when you have a hangover! From Mardi Gras the night before!!! So no- unfortunately they really dont stack up as the flavor is in NO and not in the dough.....But they are super yummy elsewhere

You will not believe this, but I never had them one single time my entire stay there in october 05...not once. I don't know why....If I stay there this August, I will be sure to. I have to see what all the hub bub is about..lol

I have not been to New Orleans either
but we had a dessert beignet while we
were dining at the Commanders Palace
in Las Vegas. That was our wedding
dinner when we got married out there.
Yes, its a given that your not going to
get the whole New Orleans flavor but
I was just looking for something different
for breakfast. I think I will try them on our
April trip.

you will love them then- they are sort of like fried dough at a faire but smaller and more puffy like a doughnut.

I don't know how they compare to the real thing, but they were awfully good! Especially when they are warm!!

I haven't had the ones at WDW, so I don't know, I'm spoiled to the originals, so I didn't even bother. If you don't have a Cafe Du Monde's around though, I would definantly try them at WDW, they do such a good copy of everything!

Most of my guests who have had both come back every day of their stay for more! Everyone says they are "not quite the same, but delicious anyways." I personally think they taste like a very sweet funnel cake only a little lighter. I would def. reccomend you try them once!

I agree, no real flavor.. However, that does not stop me from eating them. Just don't even expect them to taste like the real thing at all. The just look similar... I have eaten both BTW :)
