50's Prime Time vs. Sci-Fi Dine In

Hi Everyone! I would love to hear your thoughts on Sci-Fi Dine in vs. 50's Prime Time. In a few days I need to make PS arrangements and I can't decide if I want to do 50's Prime Time or not. My hubby is not the kind that likes a lot of attention drawn to him(he's a little on the shy side) so from what I hear , I'm not sure 50's Prime Time would be a good place for him !! Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

We ate at Sci-Fi for lunch last year. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back again this year. The atmosphere is so cool. You feel like your outside on a summer night, stars and all.
The waiters and waitresses roll around on skates. The only thing I didn't like was the place is really dark. It is hard to see your food.
We also made reservations for dinner at 50's prime time for a different day. I have heard this place is pretty neat if you like a lot of interaction between you and the waiters. I am hoping for the best considering my wife too is shy. They probably like to take advantage of this.
I wish they would add 50's prime time to the Fantasmic dinner package.

The 50s Prime Time may not be to your husband's liking. My husband and I went there during our honeymoon. We loved it because it was so funny. My husband did get picked on for not placing his napkin on his lap (something I keep trying to make him do at home). Anyway, after the 2nd time of being told, he had to stand up with his nose against the wall. What a hilarious moment. I wish I had thought quick and took a picture. The servers really interact with you so if you want fun, go there.

We went to Sci-Fi Dine-in also and really liked the atmosphere. Beware, however, of 2 things. First, the cars all seat 6 (2 in each seating) so if it's just the 2 of you, you will probably be placed with others. We were in the backseat of a family of 4. Didn't take away from our atmosphere tho. Second, they have seating for 2 at the back of the "drive-in" that you don't actually sit in cars. You end up sitting at tiny umbrella tables. I would think that would really stink.

I really prefer Prime Time. Alot of fun!!!! Especially, if you remember the 50's , and all those old TV shows, which they show bits & pieces of them on on Tv screen.
Just remember, if you should have a baseball hat on the waiters will take it off your head. And never put you elbows on the table when you eat. I think it's sooo much fun!! :laugh Of course, I guess I'm not to hard to please, especially when I'm at DW!! Just love that Mouse!!!:) JOANN

We have done the Sci-Fi and enjoyed it very much. We'll be doing the 50's Prime Time for our first time this trip.

I went through this same question with my husband and kids. My husband and I both love the idea of 50's Prime Time, but our kids 14 and 12 do not like the idea of being made to eat all the veggies.... ...or stand in the corner. But I love it.... The only thing that did win the kids over was telling them about the ice cream sundaes and milkshakes. :p

I think you would prefer Sci-Fi. Primetime WILL single you out which can be fun unless you are not into that sort of thing.

Also, Sci-Fi's menu is different between lunch & dinner. If you have kids, go for lunch.

We always make it a point to go to Sci-Fi every time we are there.

I really didn't care for 50s Prime Time Cafe. I understand that you pay more at a theme park, but 13 dollars for a fried chicken dinner??????

We love 50's Primetime. It's awesome when you get a really good server who gets into it. And for all of you who don't like the green beans, ask for corn. They'll gladly substitute. And their milkshakes are totally delicious!

I have never been to the Sci-Fi (I am not really into Science Fiction) but I have been to 50's Primetime twice. Both times the food was to die for and the service was wonderful. It kind of felt good to have the waitress praise me for saying "Please" & "thank you" I guess all those manners lessons from mom paid off! My sister is one of those people that runs out of the room when the resturant employees sing happy birthday to her and she loves the 50's primetime so maybe your husband would like it. Heck it is Disney....have fun!

If you husband doesn't like attention drawn to him then maybe PT is not your cup of tea. You also might want to steer clear of the Whispering Canyon at the WL. My family went there on Christmas Day last year and a woman in the table across from us was talking on her cell phone. The waitress yelled to the entire room, "Please everyone be quiet she is talking on her cell phone." She repeated this over and over in the loudest voice she could. The whole room erupted in laughter and this poor woman was slowly sinking down in her chair. Another table had a huge bucket (like the size of a bathroom garbage can) on the table filled with water with a very long straw. We asked the waiter why they had a bucket of water on the table, he said matter-of-fact. "He did ask for a LARGE water" *LOL* Too funny!

Thanks everyone for all of your help. I still have to talk to DH and see what he wants to do. I'm hoping that some of that Disney Magic will get in him and he will let loose and have a ball. Don't get me wrong, he's not a stiff or anything but he is a whole lot more reserved than I am! I really want to hit both restaurants actually! Thanks again for all of the info!! :)

The Sci-Fi has always been my favorite... but I've always been disappointed since they dropped the massive (half pound) hot dog from the menu. :) It was the best dog I've ever had!

My wife and I ate at 50's, and while it was enjoyable, we didn't really click with either the waitress or the menu selections.
