Afternoon Tea @ Grand Floridian

We are thinking about having the Tea in the late afternoon to replace having dinner. Is this tea service all you can eat, or are the portions substantial enough? My Husband thinks it is just teenie weenie sandwiches....... rolleyes:

Welcome to DisneyCentral. I hate to say this, but your husband is right. The Grand View Lounge afternoon tea has some tea packages as well as a la carte offerings.

The Grand Tea - The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine and your choice of tea. $24.50 per guest

Prince Edward's Tea - a delicious array of duck liver en croute, country pate, potted crab crostini and marinated fresh berries, served with a cumberland sauce. We then offer our delicious fresh baked scone served with fresh Devonshire cream. Your choice of tea selections and a glass of our Sandeman's Founders Reserve Port $20.00 per guest

Tea for Two - A selection of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts and our freshly baked pastries, complete with a choice of two teas. $35.00 for two

Buckingham Palace - Our traditional tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts complimented by fresh strawberries and cream, along with your choice of tea. $17.50 per guest

Sally Lunn Tea - Sally Lunn rolls date back to the 18th century where they were baked fresh, then sold on the streets of Bath England by the creator. Here at the Grand Floridian, we have carried on this tradition of this sweet yeast bread served lightly toasted with apricot preserves. This is followed by a choice of either trifle or strawberries and cream, along with your choice of tea. $12.50 per guest.

Mrs. Potts Tea - For the younger tea lover in your party, we offer a variety of tea sandwiches, tuna salad, ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly on white bread. We serve our magical dark tea (chocolate milk), followed by a choice of 2 pastries $8.50 per guest

My friend and I have been to the GF Tea room a few times, and it's really not alot to eat. We consider it an afternoon snack. We've got the tea for two one time, didn't really care for it too much. Our favorite is just to go and get scones and hot chocolate or tea, and the strawberries w/wipped cream. It is a very small sitting area, and definatly not all you can eat. We enjoy the simple elegance of it, and its' just a nice break!

My mom and I went to tea at the GF in July 2001 and everyone is right, the portions are a little small to replace dinner. We ended up eating some fast food later - you could probably have some sandwiches and pastries at the tea and then just grab something small like a piece of pizza for dinner and be satisfied. The tea was a really nice, quiet break from our busy Disney day and definitely something I would recommend doing!

I liked when they had the tea at The Rose and Crown. That was all you can eat.
