Dining Plan problem

We ran into a problem that I wanted to write about since I hadn't heard about this beforehand.

My older DS is 11yo. He can sometimes eat like an adult and sometimes cannot. On 2 occasions, we asked our waiter (at TS meals) if we could just order him a kids meal, even though we had already paid for him to eat adult meals. Since this obviously works in Disney's favor, they said yes, no problem. Yet *both times*, when the bill came, they had charged us for TWO meals for him, 1 Kid and 1 adult. When we pointed this out, BOTH times they said this was the only way to enter the bill into the computer and they couldn't correct it! We had to stop at the concierge desk at the lobby in order to get it fixed. Needless to say, it was very aggravating and we almost wished we hadn't used the DDP.

Just wanted to warn others!

Re: Dining Plan problem

we were there for a weekin march this year with the same dining issue(ds age 11)
we had no problems though: they let him order an appetizer and dessert from adult choices and let him choose entree from child's menu. we did this every night at dinner only.
you are right...it is disney that comes out ahead! we are already paying for an adult dining plan!

Re: Dining Plan problem

Yuck! I'm sorry you ran into this! Unfortunately, the computer does read kids meals as kids meals and adult meals as adult meals. Even though Disney is coming out ahead, if you enter a kids meal (which has to be done so the order gets to the kitchen) it subtracts a kids meal. Then, I would guess they take an adult credit since thats what you're DS is, without realizing that the kids has already come off. I dont believe that they cannot put it back on though, next time ask for a manager!

Once we got back to our hotel (BC), they were very nice and put the meal credit back onto our account immediately. But it was a hassle to go through it anyway. Next time we go back, which probably won't be for a few years at least, he'll be 13 or 14 yo and eating a lot more

Re: Dining Plan problem

Even though Disney has made some adjustments to make the dining plan better and better, it still looks like there is room for further improvement. I would suggest writing them to alert them. I image that since they are pretty darn good at listening to the Voice of the Customer, they will take action to fix this in the future.

Re: Dining Plan problem

I found that if you're planning to pay for something OOP you have to be sure they ring it up completely separate. I haven't been since the current changes went into effect, but there were times I wanted to pay for DS's meal OOP and never had any trouble with getting charged a credit, I always got two tickets at the end of the meal.

Sorry you had trouble and I'm glad they got it fixed for you!!

Re: Dining Plan problem

Sorry to hear that this is still an issue ( a few people have already reported this). I think it would be best to have seperate checks in these situations it sounds. This should be a warning to those going who aren't intending to use their DDP credits for everyone at the table.

Re: Dining Plan problem

I'm sorry to hear about your problem but I'm glad someone could help get your credit back so it wasn't lost forever. We paid out of pocket for a lot of my son's meals last May and didn't have any trouble but that was before the changes at the first of the year.
