Dining Plan Change

Starting today, you cannot trade in your counter service meals for three snacks. You have to get an entree! This was a HUGE problem this morning when people wanted like a bagel and coffee for breakfast, but wanted to use a CS credit. I think its a yucky change because I dont understand the reasoning behind it. We were told to strictly enforce this new rule however.

Well, I didn't even know that it could be done, but that's a bummer for people who were counting on doing that.

Re: Dining Plan Change

Hmmm, I am with PU, I didn't know that this was possible.

I am not a fan of trying to change things that have been created for a reason. Disney keeps having to change things because the guests try to tailor the dining plan to their wants.
I think the plan is a good deal and people mess around with it and cause the company to have to amend it.

I couldn't agree more and could not have said it better. I think the plan as it is SUPPOSE to be is MORE than fair. Can't people just be satisfied with the good deal and stop trying to make it into something else? sheesh...it's so annoying to the rest of us.

Re: Dining Plan Change

It does work fine just the way it is. The only things I wish they'd leave alone is if you decide to pay part of your party out of pocket, just to allow it. If I were to change anything, I'd ask for the ability to combine two counter meals into one table or two snacks into one counter. Again, I don't have children of any age, so those problems and issues related to kid's meals v adult meals are foreign to me.

Re: Dining Plan Change

I didn't even know this was possible, so I certainly won't miss it!

But I completely agree with the others about people trying to tailor the plan to the way they want it - the DDP is already a GREAT deal. Disney shouldn't have to baby-sit people by making more specific rules all the time.

Sorry guys I have to go the other way on this again. WDW is the most profitable part of Disney and they make a bundle off all of us. For them to CONSTANTLY mess with their system to save what amounts to them as pennies is dumb and only annoys their customers (us).

HONESTLY, what is the difference between getting three snacks (average $12) or a CS meal (average $12)??? OMG, why can't they do something useful with their time--like take that wand down!

Re: Dining Plan Change

It's very annoying to be a Libra - you see both sides - and I agree with both Gingles and Dopey. I don't like people trying to "scam" the system, because I think the price of the DP is more than fair - but at the same time I think once you purchase it - as long as you're not trying to scam them - you should be able to use your credits the way you want. Disney has a pretty captive audience - once you're in the parks you're going to be eating - so I think they should be more flexible.

You can do this! I spoke to a couple of Disney Travel Agents as well as Disney Dining MULTIPLE times when making my ADRs. They said they would just have to put them on 2 separate checks, and to let the server know immediately. That's what I am doing in August when we go to California Grill...the 2 credits won't be worth it for ME, but it will for DH.

Fellow Libra here...and I can NEVER makeup my mind!!!!!!!!

I totally see both sides, since the DP is SUCH a great deal as it is. But I don't see why this new change was made. Like Llama said, Disney has such a captive audience. Once we are there, we are going to spend our money there!!!

And add me to the list of those who never knew you could trade a CS for 3 snacks!

It's actually PAINFUL for me to make a decision.

(sorry for the threadjack - back to our regularly scheduled topic)

I only mentioned this because I'd read from some here that they were cracking down on spliting checks. This is something that I kept in reserve last September, that is, going to one of the signature locations and only using 2 credits for me and ordering DW's meal OOP because she wasn't going to eat appetizers and we'd probably split dessert. We still saved in this situation with our DDE membership (20%).
