Now for something completely different, I need your opinions.

First up, Capn Jack's. I've seen mixed reviews, but I'm considering adding it. What do you folks who've eaten there have to say? All of it.

Re: Now for something completely different, I need your opinions.

I have also read those mixed reviews and it has kept me from trying it. Bella went there on her last trip I believe and she and the dave were pleasantly surprised if I am remembering correctly. You should try it soundgod. I am definately interested in your opinon of the place. I know you will sell it to me straight.

We went there for lunch and liked it. Not super great but a good lunch.

I've been there and I prefer Fulton's. We weren't very impressed with Cap'n Jack's. The food was just mediocre.

Re: Now for something completely different, I need your opinions.

I'd pass on Cap'n Jacks if I were you.
I was very disappointed in it when we were there a couple of years ago. The menu is very limited and the service was poor.

Could have just been an off night service-wise, but not menu-wise.

If you're looking for something at DtD, I would recommend Portobello Yacht Clut. It was great.

We ate there in 2005 (so I'm sure it could have changed by now-maybe), It was alright....Not the best Disney has to offer that's for sure. They do have very good crabcakes though...

We've eaten there once in 1999 on our first night and it was less than satisfactory. I won't go back.

I've never eaten there - but I'm always surprised to see it still open every year - it doesn't really seem to fit in with the other restaurants at WDW.

Re: Now for something completely different, I need your opinions.

I have been there several times, believe it or not.

The service has been a little crabby (pardon the pun!), and the food has been really so-so. I have had the clam chowder, oysters on the half shell, crab cakes, crab legs, seafood pasta... also shrimp cocktail. None of it -- not a single thing -- was anything exceptional.

The last straw came when we went in a huge group (grandparents to little kids) and they sat us in the bar area. They served the adults first and the kids sat there and waited and waited and waited. They began to cry and the waiter just kept telling us that the restaurant was just too busy in the kitchen. Even the bartender couldn't ever seem to mix our drinks.

None of the adults could start their food while the kids were so sad. DD fell asleep in frustration ebfore she even got her plate.

Bottom line: Go to Cap'n Jacks for a delicious Bloody Mary while you shop one day and save the seafood experience for Fulton's, which has always treated us and our kids with lots of care -- steaks cooked just right, kids served first, delicious cocktails and outstanding seafood, some of which is locally harvested from Florida including white crabs you can't get anywhere else!

(P.S. If any of those WDW website investigators are watching, how about using my idea of turning this place into "Cap'n Jack SPARROW'S Oyster Bar" and giving it a total overhaul so that it is themed and able to accommodate the cutomers better?)

P.S. As a very cheerful lover of all things Disney, it does break my heart to serve up a negative review, SG... I just wanted to give you a real opinion so you could decide if you want to spend $$$ there...

Re: Now for something completely different, I need your opinions.

It's a shame Fulton's stopped participating in Disney Dining before the current dining plan began. We usually eat at Fulton's every visit anyway and I was looking to try someplace different. I examined Cap'n Jack's menu and thought the lobster tails would be a good idea. I'll have to give this some more thought.

Re: Now for something completely different, I need your opinions.

First of all, I think your idea for turning it into Captain Jack SPARROW'S is a great one, Miss Disney.

Secondly - is this restaurant owned by Disney?

Re: Now for something completely different, I need your opinions.

I think that's the big problem with changing Cap'n Jack's, I'm certain it's neither owned nor operated by Disney, save Disney owning the building. Cute idea about Cap'n Jack Sparrow's, but I'd question the shelf life of the concept.

I am eating there for the FIRST time in August! DH loves Seafood and the lobster tail entree looked GREAT for him. I wanted to try new places, so I booked it for an early dinner our first night onsite. I hope we like it!

Which? Fulton's or Cap'n Jack's?
If it's Fulton's, you'll love it from start to finish including the service.
