Ohana/fireworks help needed

Goodness all this planning -- driving me crazy just trying to make it perfect. Anyways, I set the dinner time at Ohana late 9:05pm thinking that we would be good for fireworks -- but now I am wondering if I should try and move it. I am a first timer to Disney, so I dont know how this all works.

MK closes at 10pm that night -- so what should I do?

You won't be able to get back to MK for Wishes if you are planning to do that, but you can watch the fireworks from the beach at the Poly. You'll still be pushing it if dinner runs late . . . if it were me, I'd try to get an earlier dinner ADR. Hope that helps, and I hope you have a MAGICAL trip! WDW is truly my favorite place to be!

You won't get back to MK, but you will be able to see the fireworks and hear the music from Ohana. Think about that. If you do that, then your dinner ADR at 9:05 is perfect

Re: Ohana/fireworks help needed

I would just double check what time fireworks are that night. we have a night that the park closes at 10, but the CM told me fireworks are at 9. that might make a difference, just so you aren't being seated and trying to get checked in as the fireworks start.

other than that = as long as you don't mind a late dinner, sounds good to me!

Re: Ohana/fireworks help needed

Many nights that MK closes at 10, they run wishes at 9 and the SpectroMagic parade at 10. What day are you doing your dinner, that is, the actual date. This will make a difference. Also, Wishes, if performed at 9 PM will run at or very very close to 9 PM and the show is about 12 minutes 30 seconds, so will be over by 9:13.

Re: Ohana/fireworks help needed

You should try to get dinner for 8pm. Eat, head to the beach for the light pagent on the seven seas lagoon that passes the poly at around 9pm and then sit tight for wishes at 10pm. You can grab a lounge chair and a cocktail and call it a day.

Re: Ohana/fireworks help needed

How do I find out what time Wishes will be? Ahhh this is sooo frustrating! :)

The date that we will be in MK at Ohana is May 17th -- perhaps I should change that time to 8pm I guess.

Another question, can we park at the Poly and take the monorail over to MK?

you can watch wishes right from the beach at the Polynesian...they pipe in the music from there. Right before wishes that night, at around 9pm or so, they have a water pagent that goes right by the beach....you can watch that and then see wishes from right where you are standing.

If the MK closes at 10pm that night, then wishes is at 10pm...it's always at the end of the night. You can check this by going to the official site, clicking on calender and then clicking on the date you are looking for. It will list the special events at the MK that day (parades and fireworks.) If you really have your heart set on being inside the Mk for the fireworks, I suggest make the ADR even earlier than 8pm...like 7pm. That will give you plenty of time to eat. After eating you can either take the monorail or the boat launch from the poly's beach to the MK. Line up right on main street hub or better still get on top of the railroad loading area right at the main gates....that's my favorite view. You must secure that spot at least an hour and a half before the show starts or you will be standing behind to many people to enjoy it. BTW: you can park at the polynesian for free if you have an ADR there. You can leave your car there to go to the mk for wishes and then come back and get it after.

Re: Ohana/fireworks help needed

Dana, I've been on the Poly's beach several times. The music is barely audible on the breeze. Wishes is at 10 on May 17th. IF you really have your heart set on being inside the park to watch fireworks, I would suggest eating at the Crystal Palace that night and getting a late seating, you'll be able to go out onto the porch and watch, if you haven't finished eating, thought by 10, you should be. Either that or eat dinner around 7 at Ohana so you will be finished with enough time to catch the launch back to the MK. The launch is probably as fast as the monorail at that time. Another option would be to wait on dinner until after 10 and go to either Big River at the Boardwalk or Wolfgang Puck Cafe or House of Blues in DTD as they seat until 11.

I think they still have show music in Ohana, but I can't swear one away or the other. I went outside during Music, Magic, and Mayhem. I am sure there are others here who have eaten at Ohana recently that cuold shed some light.
