having 2nd thoughts on Rose & Crown

we have ADR's for Rose and Crown, but I am really not sure I want to go there. Can anyone convince me to keep it, or give me a really good place to try to get in place of it. (we already have Lecellier, Akershus & Marrakesh in Epcot) We love Epcot - but we could walk to boardwalk for dinner that night, maybe. or leave and go somewhere else.

Anyone ever been to Maya Grill?

Thanks!!

Re: having 2nd thoughts on Rose & Crown

Rose and Crown really isn't all that special. It's biggest draws are the bar itself and outside seating that offers good views of Illuminations. The menu is limited and uninspired, much as you would expect in an English pub. I know, many of you like Rose and Crown, it left me cold.
You might give some strong thought to something in the Boardwalk area.

Re: having 2nd thoughts on Rose & Crown

We had dinner there last May for the first time is years and enjoyed it. It was the best meal of our trip but we enjoyed it enough to add it to the list again this year.

I always really enjoyed Rose and Crown but the last time I was there they seemed to step up their game even more. I really enjoy the potato and leek soup..yummy!

If you can tie it into the Illuminations show, that would be cool.
We eat there every trip. The Fish and Chips are very nice.

Rose and Crown is pretty good--not my favorite, but I'd eat there again.

Re: having 2nd thoughts on Rose & Crown

Honestly, I was not impressed with the food at Rose & Crown...however, the service was AMAZING! After somehow getting a beeper and NOT getting checked into the system, waiting WAYYY too long, they gave us a great table for Illuminations and let DS "start the fireworks" -- it started out bad, but the experience was priceless.

If I wasn't going to see Illuminations from there, I'd pick Spoodles at the BW over it anyday - just because I didn't think the food was outstanding.

Re: having 2nd thoughts on Rose & Crown

I really loved what I ordered (the veggie-phylo wrap with a curry sauce), but my DH thought his dinner was only okay (he said it was as if it had some sort of freezer burn taste to it). The kids loved their mac and cheese, and we had awesome service. We had a patio table and it was nice to walk down to see Illuminations (ours was the first or second table on the patio, so we couldn't see the show very well).

I'm not sure if DH would want to return, but I'd go again if we had a more than 2 days at EPCOT (in otherwords, I'd want to try somewhere else, I think).

Re: having 2nd thoughts on Rose & Crown

If you're looking for somewhere on the boardwalk, how about Spoodles? I'm going for the first time in Sept, so I can't give it a personal review, but it's gotten good reviews. Also, it seems like you've got a lot of meals scheduled at Epcot.

Re: having 2nd thoughts on Rose & Crown

We're big fans of the R&C. We have never recieved anything but top notch service and the food is always good. Throw in a front row seat for Illuminations and it can't be beat.

When it comes to food, you will always find different people lik ediffernt things. The food is not too fancy, but still good.

We love to enjoy our adult beverages while watching the show!

Haha, it left us cold too, because the food was cold.

I can't say I would go again. There are lots of other places to choose from, especially in Epcot.

we will be in EPCOT 3 days - it's our favorite!! we don't park hop, so that limits choices, somewhat.

we have decided to go with Maya Grill - we'll just leave EPCOT by 7 (well, we'll wander out before that, but plan to be at car by 7) & go to COronado Springs for a 7:30 ADR. The menu sounds so yummy & the girls are super excited about it (older DD is Maia, so she can't wait to eat somewhere with her name)!

thanks for the advice everyone. Spoodles sounds ok, nothing that makes me really super excited though. Not sure why it doesn't appeal so much.
