New Restaurant in Japan
Does anyone have any info concerning the new restaurant in Japan - I made an ADR for it today - as we always enjoyed Teppanyaki Grill - but honestly, I couldn't understand half of what the CM who was making the ADR told me about it.
Our ADR is for the 2nd week of Sept. - I don't even know if it's open yet - but was told it would definitely be open in Sept. Will there still be the sushi bar?

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
When booking dining reservations for September, I was told that Teppanyaki was in rehab right now, but would be opening under a new name, Teppan Edo (just a sec... let me check and make sure that's right). She said that it was the same restaurant, just with a new name.

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
I'm not sure about the specifics of the new restaurant but Allearsnet.com says that it will re-open on August 21st. I'm just upset that I won't be able to experience the new restaurant on my upcoming trip. Oh well, another reason to plan another trip.

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
I was told it would reopen after being remodeled on the 20th or 21st of August (either way it was a day late for our trip)
with a new name, Teppan Edo, but would basically be the same style hibachi food. I think I read somewhere they were going to expand the lounge/sushi bar.I kept hearing rumors that they were planning to open earlier than originally expected, but every time I would call they would not accept ADRs until the 20th or 21st. Maybe we will get lucky and get a walk up if they do open while we are there. ...or guess I'll have to wait till next trip. ![]()

Thanks for the info - I really hope they've expanded the Sushi Bar!

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
Yeah, I asked when I called to make our November ADRs and I got the impression it's still going to be the same concept just updated and refurbed. Also, from what I heard it might have a more 'modern' streamline Japanese look. Which would be so cool.

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
They are expanding it off to the right as you face the pavillion. It will still serve the same cooked in front of you food. Also there has been reports of sushi. My guess they will be putting in a normal sushi bar and seating area.

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
I have an ADR for the 22nd. If I can manage to bring the laptop I'll try to send a review.

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
Everyone,
I just got off the phone with Disney and they still list the opening as 10-15. Mouseplanet, which is a VERY reliable source, had in their weekly update Monday that the date has been pushed back until 11-1. If ANYONE knows of the date change, I would GREATLY appreciate it. WIfe and I have reservations for 10-26 and it is my wife's 2nd favorite restaurant behind LeCelliar. I know the CM don't always have the best communication, so I am hoping someone on here can help. Thanks in advance, Jay & Monica |

Re: New Restaurant in Japan
Even if it was your wife's 2nd favorite restaurant, you need to remember that this is opening as Teppan Edo, with pretty much a new menu, and who knows how many of the old staff.
Hope for the best, be prepared for the worst.
