Our vacation starts on Sept 13. (Thurs). Well, we are getting to leave earlier in the day than what I had expected and so I need a place to eat dinner that night. I have called Disney dining and they are pretty much booked, so I am crossing my fingers and plan on asking the concierage when we check into the hotel, ASM, if they have any dinner reservations open... That is how we got to eat at CRT once before. I would just like some names of some good restaurants... We don't have admission to any of the parks that first day, so I am limited there.

Well, you should look into the DTD restaurants or the resort restaurants. Perhaps Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL? Or maybe Boma at AKL?

Fort Wilderness - Hoop D or Trails End
Port Orleans Riverside - BoatWrights
Down Town Disney - Earl of Sandwich, Ghiradelli's, Wolfgang Puck, House of Blues

I bet it wouldn't be too difficult to get into a "lesser known" resort restaurant.
You know like Beaches and Cream for a burger or something on the Boardwalk.

Whispering Canyon is fun....you could also try Spoodles. Haven't been there but there are alot of fans here on MB.

On your first day, why don't you just grab something from the food court? Just hang at the pool and grab something quick to eat. You will have your entire vacation to eat restaurant food right? Another option would be to head to Earl of sandwich at DTD market place. Excellent sandwiches and a more than fair price.

If I had an extra evening at WDW and no park tickets, I would take a bus to the MK and then take a boat over to Fort Wilderness (no park tix needed) and have fun walking around looking at the peacocks and petting zoo. let the kids play on the playground. I also like to look at the General Store there. Then eat a yummy meal at Trails End Buffet. Afterwards, I'd take a boat back to the Contemporary, ride the monorail around (take the Epcot Monorail, too!) and then stop at Epcot and take a bus back to my resort.

I love to do this, but hate cutting in to my park time....so without having tickets this is what I would love to do!
