Questions on dining options?? Opinions??
Okay, so our vacation is finally settled from October 20 thru 24.
We are thinking of using the Disney Dining Plan and I am trying to figure out where we will be and when so I can start making ADR's. I have a few questions and any opinions would be greatly appreciated. First of all we are planning on going to DTD on the first day and was thinking of dinner. Has anyone been to Wolfgang Puck Cafe in DTD? The menu looks good but I have not heard to much about it. Next we are thinking of going to MNSSHP. I think it starts at 7:00. If we wanted to do a dinner at the Crystal Palace first how does that work with the scheduled event. Can I make it for say around 6:00 and not have to deal with going out of the park to get back in for the event? Does it work like EMH where you get an armband? Next, I think I read somewhere that you can use your snack credits for the booths at EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival. Is that true? Would you schedule a sit down meal at EPCOT considering all of the tasty booths. My thought was to use the snack credits, we get 4 each, as a kind of lunch and do a sit down at Les Chef de France for a late dinner. What do you think? Lastly, for a sit down at MGM, do you prefer Mama Melrose or Scif Fi Diner? We just tried the Sci Fi Diner this past weekend and DW really liked it. I am leaning towards Mama Melrose but I want to make sure that the food is good. |

Re: Questions on dining options?? Opinions??
I've never been to the Wolfgang Puck in DTD, but I've eaten at the one in Atlanta, and the food was great.
As for Sci-Fi, I have eaten there twice, and both times, I left feeling nauseous. I don't know if it was the food, the noise, or the sci-fi clips.

Re: Questions on dining options?? Opinions??
I haven't been to Wolfgang Puck's yet but we have an ADR for our Oct trip! The menu looks yummy and I've heard great stuff about it on here.
When you purchase your MNSSHP tickets, you can have them mailed to you and they look like your park passes but they're black and white with characters in color riding the rides. No wristbands or anything. I'm not sure if you have to exit the park and re-enter with the cards or not. I can tell you for sure in a few weeks when my best friend gets back (they're going to MNSSHP). Yes, you can use the snack credits for the F&W Festival. I think using those for your tour and then planning a sit down for a late dinner sounds great. That's pretty much what we're doing. The view of Illuminations from France is good....maybe make the ADR so you can watch it from there. I think you can request an outdoor table too. MGM doesn't have much in the way of good food. Sci Fi is a great "experience restaurant". Most people don't go there for the food but more for the theme and the desserts. I haven't been to Mama Melrose's yet but we have an ADR for there too on our trip. Whatever you decide to do, you need to do it quickly. Tables fill quickly since ADR's are available as early as 180 days in advance. I called at 120 and BARELY got what I wanted. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Re: Questions on dining options?? Opinions??
We've have done 50's Cafe and the food was pretty good, the atmosphere was really cool. As for Wolfgang Puck's, we did the express restaurant at the Marketplace w/ a CS credit and the food was really good. I think anytime you can maximize your dining with the dining plan, like having a late breakfast or late lunch/early breakfast, you're doing well. You get so much food, you can only end up eating two meals a day and save up for a signature meal!!

Re: Questions on dining options?? Opinions??
we got wristbands when we entered the park for MNSSHP last year - it let the CM"s know who was allowed to stay, and who wasn't. they refused to let people on rides after the party started if they didnt have their wristbands.
now, you can get in earlier than 7 on mnsshp night and do not have to leave and reenter.

Wolfgang Puck's - Been there/loved it. The whole clan was there and we ordered a variety of dishes. Everyone enjoyed it.
Not so crazy about Momma's but never tried the sci fi. I will next visit just for the fun.

As for Wolfgang Puck Cafe, go. You should enjoy it. As for the rest of your planning, get to it last week. Many of the popular locations and times are already gone.
