Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

Okay friends, need another opinion.

I had reservations for Spirit of Aloha Luau Dinner Show... my husband just looked at MickeyMotto's picture of "Skewers Prepared over an oak fire" and fell in love!

Which would you do. I realize if we did the Ohanas it would free up another meal ticket for us then too. We never did a Luau and just thought that would be fun.

Just the two of us going, no children.

Re: Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

We did Spirit of Aloha last June and Ohana on the previous trip. We enjoyed both. If you've never been to the Luau, it's a fun experience. The show is not great, but we enjoyed it. The food is definitely better at Ohana. I'd say if you're looking for a fabulous dinner with great food & nice atmosphere, then go with Ohana. If you really want to experience the Luau and dine outdoors, the go with Spirit of Aloha.

I would personally go to O'hanna over the show, but that's just me. I love O'hanna's.

Re: Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

Hi Sue!
Here is an honest opinion, and I bet you see a lot of posts that echo this info...

The luau is expensive, and the show is barely average. It is not a true Disney show (it is an outside production). You are herded in at the same time as everyone else, you are served each course at the same time as everyone else, and unless you are seated in the front row, you will not be participating in anything. If you go to the early seating on a night with two seatings, you will feel rushed so they can get you out and get geared up for the later show.

If you go to Ohana, you will sit at a table with big platters of delicious food, served family-style. It starts coming to the table when you sit down, and it doesn't stop till you are full. The cocktails are great, and there is fun music and ambience. The guys on the barbecue pit are a show in themselves. The price is much more reasonable, and it is dripping with that WDW feeling --

I haven't been to the luau but we love 'Ohana, it's a must do every trip (but our short December trip). If I were going to see a 2 credit dinner show it would be Hoop Dee Doo.

Done both, while the food was good at the Luau, we would not go back. Ohana has better food and for the price, you can't beat it.

Re: Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

Another vote for O'hanas. The luau was not great. If you do want an entertaining show, though, definitely do the Hoop de doo review. The food at O'hanas is great. the luau is an okay show and mediocre food at best.

Re: Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

we have always thought we might do the Luau show and dinner one day but to honest each and every time we get round to it, we end up going for Ohana's in the end. This restaurant is nothing short of stunning. Always great food, great service, great atmoshere and the hawaiian singers that entertain you whilst you eat sound awesome. You could possibly get a fantastic view of the MK castle ( depending on where you are sat) or even a view of the chef's at work cooking over the 'pit'. Very entertaining!
Everyone here is called your cousin and there is a real family atmoshere to the venue. I will never ever tire of eating here.

Re: Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

I thought Spirit of Aloha was WONDERFUL. The food was very good and the dancing was excellent. We also went to Ohana's. This is a great character meal if you have kids. If it is only adults, I would go with Aloha. When we plan our next vacation we will be doing both again. I would recommend to go to Spirit of Aloha on the last night you are at Disney. It is SOOO relaxing. Have a great time.

Re: Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

If you choose Spitit of Aloha, go to the second show. Sorry I jposted for Ohana's about breakfast, that has been the only meal we have eaten there. But I would pick Spirit of Aloha.

Re: Ohanas vs Spirit of Aloha

Took the majority advice on this one. Changed my reservations to Ohana. Really looking forward to dinner there.

Added Spoodles (Have Le Cellier, Coral Reef, CRT, Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner)

any comments on these?

First, we have been to Ohana's, Spirit Of Aloha and the Character breakfast at Ohana's. We enjoyed the food all all three of them but Ohana's is by far the best. We liked the food at Spirit Of Aloha but the show was not the best, the end of the show was the best part and then it was over.

Your plans are great, we love all of the places you are going. We keep trying new places and revisiting our favorites. Try Spirit Of Aloha sometime and judge it for yourself. We have also been to Mickey's Backyard BBQ and still need to try Hoop Dee Doo.
