Dining Reservations Help!!

I have been reading posts for about 2 months now and LOVE all the info I get from you guys!!!! Sooooo.... I'd like anyone's input on our dining plans. Please let me know if I'm wasting my time at any. I'm already over my budget with the dining plan table service meals, so I'd like to cancel one of the 2 credit table meals, but don't know which to cancel. Any ideas?

9/2 Hollywood Brown Derby Fantasmic dinner package
9/3 Cinderella's Table (dinner before pirates and princess party)
9/4 Prime Time Cafe dinner
9/5 Coral Reef dinner
9/6 O'Hana breakfast
9/7 Hoop dee doo review dinner

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

hmmm....i would probably cancel brown derby - the menu just didn't seem like a 2 TS kinda menu to me. but, if you really want it for the fantasmic package then i would consider cancelling hoop dee doo (just doesn't do a ton for me). or maybe cancel cinderella's because you'll be seeing so many princessess at the party anyway.

wow - i am just no help to you at all. sorrY! anyway.....welcome to mousebuzz!!!

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

I would suggest canceling the Coral Reef.....much of what I have heard lately isn't so wonderful concerning the food and seating.

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

I was going to say CRT until I saw you have a 12 year old girl. My first choice to cut is Hoop de Doo. I'm guessing you haven't been to WDW many times, so I'd keep the Fantsamic dinner package, if only for the guaranteed show seating.
Contrary to some opinions, generally Coral Reef has been getting much improved reviews in the past couple years. An alternative would be to pay your "Ohana breakfast out of pocket, as that is the least cost effective use of a table credit. This would be an especially good strategy if you have your heart set on Hoop de Doo Review.

First off, welcome to MB! I'm in KC too!

I'd cancel the Hollywood Brown Derby and Coral Reef. I wasn't impressed at all with the HBD and although I've never been to Coral Reef, I've not heard many positive reviews. Good luck!

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

I think your ADR's look great!! If you can swing it financially, I wouldn't change a thing. But, if you have to change something-I would probably give up the Brown Derby. You could get an ADR for another restaurant for the Fantasmic package, that would only be 1 TS credit. You could do Mama Melrose's, Hollywood and Vine or 50's Prime Time. That would put you only having to use one TS credit (or you could pay out of pocket, if you want to save that credit for Hoop De Doo), but you could still get the Fantasmic dinner package. Good luck!!

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

We canceled our Coral reef reservation, it didn't seem as good as we thought it would be. We booked the concourse steak place in the contemporary resort instead. We also booked Planet Hollywood, Tony’s in MK, Captain Jacks on Downtown Disney, the Mayan Grill in the Coronado, the place in the Polynesian, and the Whispering Canyon for fun. WE'LL BE THERE ON SEPTEMBER 15TH!!

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

50's Prime Time does not offer a Fantasmic package. Only Brown Derby, Hollywood and Vine, and Mama Melrose offer it. But again, at $25 per adult, H&V is not the most cost effective use of a dinner credit and I haven't always heard the best about Mama's either. Then there' that whole, "do we really want Italian tonight" issue.
I'd still either pay 'Ohana out of pocket or cancel Hoop de Doo Revue.

I don't get this. People dump on Coral Reef all the time and then go to Planet Hollywood? Coral Reef, from all reports I get, has improved greatly, and you need to check the dates of the reviews for currency. Tony's gets consistently bad reviews. I'm trying Captain Jack's this next trip, but they're another one that doesn't review well.

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

I've never been impressed with Hollywood Brown Derby. I've done 50's prime time and Mama Melrose, both without the fanasmic package, and we've done fine. In fact, I actually opt to eat at 50's PT without the package, and just get in line for the seating of the show.

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

Thanks for all the advice. We are all so excited about the trip and want to start our first night with something really exciting. We were hoping to go to the luau at Polynesian, but it's full

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

We love HDDR, but I'd consider doing that with cash. I think it's still priced below $60 and would be just better than "break-even" with the DDP. Food at CRT is not necessarily worth the two credits but your DD getting to see all the Princesses probably is!

We're doing Coral Reef for the first time this year. With five diners, we'll try to come back with a review on what we thought. I noted over the years it's review in the UG is improved.

Re: Dining Reservations Help!!

Do you all think Fantasmic is a great way to start out our trip or should we try for a reservation somewhere in epcot so we can watch that show? I haven't been to WDW for over 12 years!!
