length of character meals

How long do the character meals take?

I am trying to figure out what time to make a PS for at Chef Mickey's and be in MK for a decent spot for SMP at 8:00 (basing this on last Octobers parade schedule)

Thanks!

Not including travel time it took us about 45min-1 hour for character buffett meals. It all depends on how fast you are seated, eat, and characters come around. I would say make the PS for around 6-6:30 to be on the safe side.

I personally don't like to be in a rush at WDW so I would say perhaps a 5:00 or 5:30 seating would be good. That way you have time to eat and get to MK early enough to scope out a good spot. If you are taking the monorail to MK then you don't have to worry about additional travel time but if you drive factor in 30 min for parking tram & monorail. Plus, you'll have to go through security and then have time to get a spot for hte parade. During peak season people line up over an hour early. My DH and I always take turns sitting in our parade spot. One of us takes DD on a ride or shopping while the other keeps guard of our prime spot! We take our motorola walk abouts to keep up with one another.

I always allow an hour to an hour and a half for our character meals.

Yup and hour to an ahour and half should be good! Chef Mcikey's is a buffet so your biggest waits will be (1) Getting seated if it's crowded and (2) waiting for all the characters to get to your table! :) :)
