Yet Another Free Dining Question

I called yesterday and had my reservation changed to include free dining. I had already booked the package with the DDP just in case it was not free.

I booked a standard view room at WL. I was told that you could not get the free dining offer on a standard view room and that I had to upgrade to a woods view.

Is there any way to stay with the standard view?

Lisa

This is exactly the reason that "free" isn't really free! Packages are limited to a certain # and a certain price category.

Re: Yet Another Free Dining Question

Can't you get the free dining staying at a Value resort?
If so then why would the view matter on a deluxe?
I had no idea that you had to stay in certain rooms to get the free dining.

Re: Yet Another Free Dining Question

I booked at a standard room at the value resort with free dining Monday 4/7. To be honest, i'm not really sure what a perferred room would be but i got to pick out my room last year so i'm happy.

Re: Yet Another Free Dining Question

there were some evil rumors floating around that this year the Free Dining would only be offered in Moderates and Above.. no Value resorts, but i haven't seen it confirmed anywhere and i honestly don't believe it. The Values are where they get their business in the off season (during free dining). Not all, but most people that are looking to save money with Free Dining aren't looking to spend the wad on the Deluxe Resort.

If i remember correctly from what our TA said last year, a certain amount of rooms were allotted from "all" resorts and when their allottment dried up you had to go with a resort that had available rooms with Free Dining.

Re: Yet Another Free Dining Question

That's disappointing but I guess the point of free dining is to fill rooms that would go empty. Now you'll have to decide if the extra money spent to upgrade is worth it.

Re: Yet Another Free Dining Question

lisa, see if a travel agent (I would try Keith/Mickey at Mouseketrips) can get you the reservation in a standard room. Last year, I really wanted a moderate with free dining but was only getting deluxe resorts as available when I called or went online. I booked at the Boardwalk but then checked with Mouseketrips and Keith was able to get me into POR. It is definitely worth looking into!

I still saved $350 on the total package price so I am spending less on an upgrade and free food so I personally ok. I was nervous DH would have a problem but, he is like "OK so we saved money? Thats fine, it will be nice to have a good view." Um...Cool.

On a side note, DH also suggested that I go to WDW next year with my cousin. We have been going back and forth on a trip for her college grad.

Ummm...Who stole my husband and how can I ensure he is not coming back.

Heheh, I don't know who did it, but perhaps they will come and take mine too.

Re: Yet Another Free Dining Question

It could also be that people who were denied a value room and later got it from a travel agent got one because between the time of the initial denial and consequent booking someone cancelled.
