Am I crazy? Le Celier question

I was on AllEars.net looking over the menu for Le Cellier and it appears that they have changed it since we went last year. Gone is the yummy filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes that DH and I loved so much. They now have a mushroom filet mignon with mushroom risotto, which sounds good except that I am severly allergic to mushrooms!! I am thinking of cancelling our ADR there and trying to book something else. This meal was the only reason we went to Le Cellier and there is nothing else on the menu that really appeals to either of us. Are we nuts? Anywhere else in Epcot that has a really good fillet? I can't seem to find anything...

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

I am 100 % certain that Le Cellier will prepare your filet without mushrooms upon request. They did for my son. If you are still concerned, you can call the restaurant beforehand. WDW is fabulous with dietary restrictions.

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

I saw that too. I also absolutely loved the filet with a sauce. My husband had the mushroom filet and he said mine was actually better than his!

I hope they will prepare a "plain" filet as I don't like mushrooms.

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

I know the mushroom filet has been around for several years. Maybe they just stopped making the filet with mashed potatoes you liked, or perhaps it just didn't make it onto the online menu you were reading.
I think you should be able to find something you would like to eat there. Like LeslieH. said, you should be able to order whatever without mushrooms. WDW restaurants are very good about serving people with allergies. I would keep the ADR and go with it. Maybe you will get lucky and the filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes will be on the menu!

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

I"m not sure what to do - they probably would prepare it without mushrooms for me, but then I'd have to get something other than the mushroom risotto with it. Darned allergies! This was the one meal I was really looking forward to, so I just don't want to get there and not like anything on the "new" menu, ya know? I know - there are much bigger things I could be worrying about - I'm such a planner and it drives me nuts!

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

I would call directly. I wish I had the # for Le Cellier- I'll bet that the 1-407-WDW DINE # can give you the direct number. Call them tomorrow!

Oh no! You mean that BBQ filet is gone?!?! I LOVVVVVEDD that!

I am VERY allergic to mushrooms as well. I'd be scared to risk it too so I know your hesitancy.

I have friends who enjoy Yachtsman Steakhouse, though I have never eaten there myself.
It's just a few steps outside the International Gateway -- is that too far?

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

They have made changes to the menu. (Emily had her kitchen day last week and had to taste everything on the new menu - she said everything was yummy except the watermelon soup which got thumbs down from everyone) - but they'll still prepare a filet for you, sans mushrooms. The cream cheese mashed potatoes are still on the menu and can be substituted for the risotto. I substitute the yukon gold potatoes all the time without a problem.

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

I see they still have the cream cheese mashed potatoes with the chicken. I am sure it would be no problem to substitute the mashed potatoes for the risotto

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

True....WDW is excellent with allergies...my nephew has a milk allergy, and the chefs meet with my sister before each meal to discuss the meal plan for him.

Ask to speak with the chef before you order. I'm sure she/he will be happy to make a special meal for you.

Re: Am I crazy? Le Celier question

Thanks for the info on substituting the cream cheese potatoes, llama. I will most certainly be doing that on my trip in just two weeks. The last time I had the filet with the cream cheesed mashed was the closest I have ever come to licking my plate in public. Ha.
