Charecter Meals

So DD 2 thinks she's a Disney Princess so we obvioulsy have to do a charecter meal for her. I thought the best choice after looking at the menus was CRT (breakfast). Whose been, what charecter were there, what are your thoughts?
Our next charecter meal is going to be Donalds Safaris Breakfast @ TH. We always enjoyed Resturauntasaurus (sp?) so we knew we wanted to give this a try. Anyone been yet? What did you think, how was the food, etc?
We have had CP for breakfast and we want to try it out for dinner. The fact that its a buffet and I can try a few things I am afraid to buy else where incase I don't like it, really won me over! So what are your thoughts on dinner?
Our DD will turn 3 about 20 days later, it may give us a reason to have a bit of a celebration while we're there. Do you think we should do that to make it extra special for her? Especially at CRT. DS had his 5th birhday at CP for breakfast and Pooh ended up putting cake on his chin. It made his day! Wonderful pic as memories too! But it was his actual birthday. What do you think?

Re: Charecter Meals

As far as character meals go, Crystal Palace is a very good choice. We have always had a great lunch or dinner there. The nice thing about CP is that the lunch menu is almost the same as the dinner menu, and its a bit cheaper, so easier on the pocketbook.

I have never had the pleasure of a princess meal, so, I can not comment on that. CRT is lovely though, and we have been there for dinner, and its worth it for the atmosphere alone.

For a birthday treat, Chef Mickey's is pretty hard to beat.

Also, I know you didn't mention it, but Ohana's Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch is also a very good choice.

Re: Charecter Meals

It has been a couple years since we have eaten at CRT. In the past we saw Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, Mary Poppins, & Belle in her blue dress. The fairy god mother used to be in the lower foyer area for pictures. Now.. I think it is a little different. Cinderella greets her guests in the foyer with a picture that is part of your reservation... and the FGM.. and other princess's circulate during your meal.

We went to Cinderellas Royal Table for Dinner last time we were there. We liked it (it was just DH and I). Im taking DD to the princess breakfest at Epcot next month so Ill sure to tell you how it goes. We are suppose to be going to Tusker House as well but it depends on what everyone wants to do.

Re: Charecter Meals

We went to CRT for lunch and if your DD loves the Disney Princesses then there is no better place. Lots of character visits and just being inside the castle is a wonderful experience.
Chef Mickeys is also a great character greet place with a wonderful atmosphere-great for a birthday celebration.

Re: Charecter Meals

I've done Donald's Safari breakfast. I loved the character interaction, and the food was very good. I'va also done CP for all 3 meals and they were good too. I can't comment on CRT or PSB because I refuse to do them because of the obscene prices for the photo packages.

Re: Charecter Meals

So we are on the dining plan, do we get the pictures @ CRT for "free" (part of what you already pay) or do we have to pay extra like at CM & Ohanas? For 2 table services I hope it's part of it. Do you think it's worthusing the 2 ts or should we pay cash?
We're not paying park admission for DD but I did get the dining plan b/c she ate off her own plate at 19 months so now at almost 3 I'm sure it'll be even more so. I asked MS and she said that was fine-the DP was something I didn't have to pay either but was opting to. So I suppose it wont matter either way if we choose to celebrate her birthday. We weren't looking into doing more than 3 ChMeals so I think we'll stick with these...I'm the only one who picked CRT for her and others picked TH & CP so I can't really rule them out.
Dixie hit it on the nose- how can I take my little princess anywhere but a castle! She loved it last year but we didn't even get close.
WishIWasThere- I really look forward to hearing your review on T, hopefully everyone will want to go too!

When we went there for dinner in Sept the pictures came with the package.

Re: Charecter Meals

We are going to try the CRT in October. We have done the Akerhaus in Epcot twice and have had very good luck. You still get all the princesses (minus Cinderella) and it is ALOT easier to book and a bit less expensive. I highly recommend it as an option.

Re: Charecter Meals

Cinderella is the key. DD is bleach blonde...she's Cinderella, Nana and I are Belle and Aurora and Gramma is Snow White. I guess soon she'll catch onto her cousin being a red head-Ariel. That's why we were really hoping to be where Cinderella is. Doesn't matter if it's only for a picture of to stop at the table for a few seconds.

Re: Charecter Meals

Well, Cinderella will definitely be at CRT. However, it's really difficult to get into and very pricey. Since your daughter is only two, you might want to hold off on CRT until she's maybe five or six. As mentioned above, Akershus is a less-expensive and easier-to-get-into alternative. There's also 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian... which I believe includes Alice in Wonderland characters and maybe princesses (?). I've never done that, so I wouldn't know... but I've heard good reviews.

Now, I absolutely love Donald's Breakfastosaurus. It was my favorite character dining for a long time. I'm a big Donald fan, and the duck is a difficult find at the parks (in character dining, at least), so a guaranteed Donald is great for me. I suggest very late seating times. We were seated at 9:45 once, and got great character interaction. As other families left the restaurant, Donald and Mickey came back to our table to play around (Goofy and Pluto were much more interested in the table of teenage girls, though ). We've had earlier seating and did not get nearly as much character time due to the crowds (but I think age factors in... when they see a table of teenagers, they usually think 'okay, pic and go').

And I think a birthday celebration would be fine. We celebrated David's birthday all three days we were at WDW (although only the first was technically his birthday). 20 days isn't much of a fudge... go ahead with it and have some fun!

Well, best of luck on CRT! Hope you get ressies!

All the ADRs we plan to make

The places we plan to go are:
Crystal Palace-D (new to D here)
Boma-B & D (new to B here)
Ohana-D
Cap't Jacks-D (new to)
Whispering Canyon Cafe-D
Tusker House- B (new to)
Cinderellas Royal Table- B (new to B)
Mama Melrose-D (new to)
and most likely the Sunday Brunch @ House of Blues-DH LOVES the food there!
The rest will be quick service places and 2 we'll have to pay cash at or pay cash for CRT. We may choose CRT b/c I think it's just a bit cheaper that way of course that is if we can get in! Send us prayers & pixie dust.
Does everyone make ADRs according to EMH or just by whenever you can get in to them? That I think may play a role in things. Last year we had the PH option but never used it. This year do we save the money and plan the same way? Or splurge on the PH option so I don't need to worry about any if's...? We're doing w/out the WP&F b/c of the time of year. I figure DH & DS can pay to get into Disney Quest. Even if they go twice each we still save money.

Re: Charecter Meals

You should DEFINETLY make it special for her!! Disney will make her feel like the princess she is! CRT for breakfast is good, we much prefer it to the lunch. Have you thought about Hollywood & Vine Play N Dine? It has Little Einsteins (June and Leo, I think), JoJo and Goliath. We will doing it in November.

Re: Charecter Meals

CRT will get you a nice photo with Cinderella. The food isn't on par for the price. The old menu was way better. You get a lot of bang for the buck with photo opportunities with princesses at Akershus in the Norway pavilion in Epcot. Granted, the main photo is with Belle and not Cinderella, but, you get Jasmine, Snow White, Aurora and Mulan as well.
