Tonga Toast

Is Tonga Toast only available at Kona cafe? I thought I had read that you could get it at a counter service also.

Re: Tonga Toast

The last time we were there in Dec. 2006, you could order from room service and/or Kona. I couldn't find it anywhere else. It is worth it to go to Kona!!

Yup, you can order it from the CS in the Poly..that's what we did! It was sooo good I would find it hard to believe it's better at Kona Cafe but I bet it is!

I have heard so much about Tonga toast, but never tried it. Is it really worth a trip to Kona?

I think Kona in itself is worth a trip to Kona from what I've been hearing lately!

But yes it's very good!! There is a recipe on allearsnet.com and I've made it at home a couple times as well (never quiet as good) but you could try it and see what all the hoopla's about. Basically it's a HUGE chunk of Sourdough with a slit cut in the center with like an entire banana mashed in there. Then it's covered with cinnamon and sugar. I believe Kona might give you some fancy fruit syrup but we just use regular syrup at home and it's amazing. Let me find that link.

We all loved it, but be prepared... the serving is huge. Believe her when Cinderbella says "a HUGE chunk" . It stands at least 4 " high. We would plan on sharing in future.

Very Yummy!

Yes, without doubt. I'm bummed because I didn't get to go there last time, but it was only a 2 breakfast quickie trip and one day was spent off site.

Re: Tonga Toast

Is the Tonga Toast at the counter service just like that served at Kona? Served with the strawberry stuff too?
