Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

We're booked for Sept and of course have the basic DDP ...Am trying to decide if we should pay the extra $30/day and upgrade to the 3 meals/3 snacks/free mug plan. I'm a little afraid that we won't be able to eat all that food! (An odd thing to say since I'm traveling with two over-6-footers and one Gonna-turn-60-at WDW who's on the See Food diet...!) (Ummm...that's not me.... ) Anyone use the full plan?

I haven't used it, but for that price, it'd be worth it to me to try it out!!

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

I'm wondering the same thing, also going in Sept with two over-6-footers, althought DH & I are desperately trying to commit to "healthy choices".

I think the biggest benefit is in having the option to choose sitdown for breakfast and/or lunch, avoiding the chaos around counter service in the morning. You might also be able to splurge on more 2 point restaurants which could be nice. No doubt we would still end up at some CS, but the choice would be because we want to rather than we don't have an option other than OOP.

If we do, it will be with frequent reminders "you don't have to eat it all!". Hard to avoid the "get your money's worth" attitude though.

Still undecided ourselves.

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

I'm not sure what you should do either..I have a very hungry 6'2" husband and when I told him about the Deluxe plan he almost passed out of happiness but it seems like SOOO much food!!!!!!
But the upgrade with the free DDP just seems so worth it doesn't it?!?

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

I would definately take advantage of that offer! It sounds like a great deal and a perfect time to try out the deluxe dining plan. I couldn't see if it if you had to pay the regular amount - but this is a deal!!! Enjoy!

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

We are doing it at the beginning of June, I have crunched the #'s many times(my DH says i am obcessive ) Anyway! I want it to be worth it for us because we don't have free dining, so I have made sure and with different restaurant choices we still come out ahead. We are planning to try to do 2 sit downs alot of days and 1 Signature dining at Narcoosee's and after figuring the $$ out of pocket even with tip we will more than break even!!

With free dining I would definitely go for it!! BUT make reservations early!!!

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

Every family is different, but we are hearty eaters and have done the regular DDP three times. All three times we had trouble eating that much food! At least twice, we left a couple of meals unused. (And we like to eat!)

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

Sorry, I just became aware of the free DDP offer. For just $30 more the premium plan might be a good deal (it's a lot of food!).

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

I'll let you know. We plan on trying the deluxe DDP in August when it is just my DW and I. We figured we might as well try as many "nicer" restaurants and table service places as we can while we are without the kids. We also plan on trying a couple of 2-credit places. I know it is not the most cost-efficient with those meals, but we should still come out ahead, and not having to stress over the individual meal bills is worth it to me personally.

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

We are going in Sept, also the free dining and I upgraded to the Deluxe. I have already crunched the numbers on the TS meals and we will be saving about $450! Note, I said SAVING! That does not include any meals I left open for CS or later decisions or the snacks. We are doing several 2 credit meals and at least 1 dinner show. Yes, it is alot of food, but we are not the kind that feel we have to clean our plate just because it is there. We are also trying a couple of new places this trip. If you upgrade to the deluxe, it will still be cheaper than if you had paid for the basic.

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

I didn't upgrade, because first my DH and I do not really eat alot, and last year - yes appys were included and are not this year - but it was still more food than we could eat.

Also, it seemed like we spent 1.5 - 2 hours eating dinner. I don't want to seem like all we are doing is eating at DW.

Actually this was my reason for chosing a couple buffets - Boma, Chef Mickeys, and H&V, I figure we can somewhat contol our time eating, instead of waiting for the server to bring it at their schedule.

Re: Opinions about DDP Upgrade....

We have trouble eating all the food in the regular plan...seems like we always have credits left over. I think the deluxe plan would be great if you plan on doing a few signature dining or dinner shows that would require two credits each.

Eat at 2 credit restaurants
That would be my reason for getting the deluxe DDP
