Switched Restaurants on arrival day...What do you think?

Our arrival day early Dec...original plan was: we arrive at MCO around 10:30 a.m. take ME to WL, hang out and explore WL, dinner at Whispering Canyon.

Well, today I remembered seeing something on the Travel Channel about the Gingerbread House display during the holidays at the Grand Floridian and made the following changes. Please give your thoughts.

Now our plans are: Arrival day, take ME to WL, rest and explore the resort, dinner at Kona Cafe (5:20), after dinner hop on the monorail to the Grand Floridian to check out the Gingerbread House display, get back to resort early enough to catch the Electric Water Pagent. Hopefully we'll be able to get to bed at a decent hour so that we're refreshed for the next day at Animal Kingdom.

It's doable. Take the boat from the WL to the MK and then pick up the resort monorail or grab a resort launch that runs from MK-GF-Poly-MK (it's often faster than the monorail and less of a hassle).
You can watch the Electric Water Pagent from the GF and then again, either grab a launch or monorail back to the MK and transfer to the WL boat.
One thing to keep in mind, you might be faster walking from the GF's dock through the lobby and going upstairs to the monorail as the launch's route is a circle, MK-GF-Poly-MK.
The GF has some of the best holiday decorations, certainly better than Poly and Contemporary, but the Wilderness is very nicely decorated as well.

It's doable, but FYI, if you want to buy gingerbread goods, the shop closes!

Closer to the holidays it might be open later, but when we were there last Dec 8 the Gingerbread house, which is also the shop, closed at 5pm!

It still smells yummy and the lobby of the GF is to die for!

Thoughts on the Restaurant Swtich? I've read nothing but good reviews about Kona.

Thanks for the tip! We make a rule not to buy anything our first night, we usually save purchases for the end of the trip. If we see something we like we'll just have to go back.
