Wine Package Add-on

While contemplating plans for an upcoming trip, I ran across that if you have the Dining Plan, you can buy a Wine package add-on. Not sure if it is new, because I haven't heard anyone ever mentioning this option.

It is new. I do not know if any one has used it, though.

Re: Wine Package Add-on

I think it'd be fun to add on but it's definitely pricey for a bottle of wine. I suppose it depends on your vacation style. I believe it's an additional $39 per night of your stay and that's good for one bottle of wine per night of your stay. I don't know how it works, if it's delivered to your room or if you can order a bottle at a restaurant or what. It might be worth the money if you can order the bottle with your meal and drink it at the restaurant intead of having to pay OOP. GL on your decision!

Re: Wine Package Add-on

Here is a little more information
Optional Wine & Dine Plan -- The Disney Wine & Dine Plan can be added to any package that includes dining for $39.99 per night per room. You'll receive one bottle of wine per room from a select wine list for each night of your stay. Gratuity not included. Locations and designated wine list are subject to change. Wines are subject to availability. Must purchase this Plan for each night of your package stay. Two wine entitlements will be exchanged for one bottle of wine from private in-room dining menus or one bottle of wine at signature restaurants.

NOTE: Wine is not available at Magic Kingdom Park restaurants or dinner shows. Wine entitlements are not transferable to non-party guests and they expire at midnight on the day of checkout. Applicable taxes are included. Gratuities are NOT included.

Wow. For that much I'd get a car/taxi and drive to the store and buy my own.

Can you tell I'm not a wine connoisseur?

Re: Wine Package Add-on

Depending on the wines available it may be a good deal. Most restaurants charge 2 to 3 times retail prices for a bottle of wine, so $39 might be a decent deal.

We never get the dining plan because when we stay at a Disney owned hotel, it is not during the "free period" and paying for the dining plan doesn't work for us (cost-wise) based on how I like to eat.

I have never seen it mentioned so was passing along the word to those people who do use the dining plan.

Re: Wine Package Add-on

I think this add on has been available since January 1st, but I haven't heard much about it, honestly.

DH and I like to drink a bottle of wine with dinner, but if they are going to charge $40 for a $10 bottle of wine, is it REALLY worth it? Yes, I'm aware you always overpay at a restaurant vs. buying it yourself in a store. But what concerns me, is it says only "select wines will be available from a select list" . I haven't seen the list ANYWHERE. I even called WDW DINE a few months and they couldn't help me.

If anyone has done it, I would love to hear how it worked out.

ETA...you need to use TWO wine credits for a bottle of wine at a Specialty restaurant? INSANITY! $80 for a cheapie bottle of wine? NO WAY. DH and I got a bottle of wine at CG for about $40-$45. NO way would I pay $80 for that very same bottle.

Re: Wine Package Add-on

$40 for a bottle of wine?
I'm glad I can't drink (psoriasis and it's medications don't mix with alcohol).
Then again, dessert ports seem to go for at least $10 a glass and have you seen the price of shots of single malt Scotch?
Yes, this was introduced in January along with the deluxe dining plan, the deletion of the tip and deletion of the appetizer.
