Artist's Point - What to wear, what to wear?

My mother pointed out that since I will be dining in the evening at a signature restaurant (with an Imagineer and 7 other people, I believe), I should dress nicely.

So..... I have many little black dresses - some fancy, some classic, some wild, and I was thinking I could wear one of those (probably stick to classic here, unless you think fancy would be appropriate... though fancy also means more revealing, and I believe I should stay away from that).

I also have a navy pinstripe skirt that I wear with a navy polo, but I believe that's too casual for an evening meal.

Do you think it would be appropriate for me to wear heels? I have some wedges that I walk nicely in and some cute slingbacks that are a little more difficult to manage. I could also wear black sequined sandals.

Any ideas? Opinions? Thanks!

Re: Artist's Point - What to wear, what to wear?

Simple is good, fancy would be too much.

I think a simple tank dress with some nice sandals would probably be just right. You don't want to be overdone.

Would a belted shirt dress be to whoa? I have a solid black empire-waist dress I can but over a tank.... and a sleeveless, dottie, collared dress. I wore that to the band banquet.

Use it as an excuse to dress up . . . why not!

But like vacation attire dressed up. Nice sundress, wedge sandals, etc.

Sounds like a really nice dinner!

Re: Artist's Point - What to wear, what to wear?

I think you're overdoing it.
Acceptable attire in the signature restaurants is resort casual.
A sundress and sandals or flats would be acceptable.
If you were doing V&A, I'd suggest the cocktail dress.

Not cocktail dresses... that's what I meant by revealing, and I didn't want to go there. Like knit dresses over camis. Close to the sundress in the degree of formality, but darker and more chic... I don't do sundresses.

Well, I think I'll pack bermuda shorts and a long, lycra-like, empire-waist top, as well as a knit dress, and I suppose I can just decide that night.

So skirt and polo? Or bermudas and empire-waist top? No dress? Dress bad?

OF course an empire waist top would be cute too. I am sure either one would totally work.

Too bad I don't have wedges to match..... I typically wear flip-flops with that outfit, actually. Flip-flops bad. Brown sandals?

IMO.. sandals would be better than flip flops.

I agree. Really, I don't like wearing flip-flops.
