I have read numers threads on other sites about new Dining Plan options for 2009. One thread even states we should have info on 2009 packages on August 3rd. SUPPOSEDLY The pricing and packages would be for anyone traveling January 11th, 2009 and later.

Rumors are floating that there will be a NEW Dining Plan option...a Counter Service Dining Plan. Each person will get 2 CS meals a day, 2 Snacks a day and a refillable resort mug. Price should be around $26-$28.

Obviously, we know the Basic and Deluxe Dining Plans will go up in price. I heard the same thing that Rlander pointed out about the Basic Dining Plan going up to $50...but that new price would supposedly add back in the appetizer and now include the tip. But who knows??

I'm anxious to see what the REAL packages and prices will be.

I think I'm responsible for the guess/rumor about the tip being added back in and I in no way know if it's a fact or just a guess. Not sure about the appetizer.
The CS dining plan sounds like it's just right for many of our posters who feel that a sit down dinner is too much food and it seems as if it's going to be priced right if it's two meals and two snacks.

Let me stress again, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT NEXT YEAR'S PLANS! I'm guessing based on complaints and comments here.

Anyother rumor is that IF and WHEN Free Dining is offered next year, it will be the COUNTER SERVICE Dining Plan. You will have to pay to upgrade to the Basic or Deluxe Dining Plans.

I've been reading the same on the other sites and I'm curious to know what the plans would be! We couldn't add a plan yet to our january trip because we had to wait for the pricing to come out!!

I guess that is a good deal and all, but $50 PP seems pretty steep for the basic plan. We ended up spending the additional money on top of the free dining plan to upgrade to the deluxe this year. I wanted to eat at a few of the signature restaurants (Coral Reef, Cindy's Castle, Cali Grill), so we figured we'd spring the bucks this time around...but I don't know that we'd do it every time.

wow, $50 would be ok if it included tip again. I'd still like to see it include appetizer or dessert - i'm not sure i need both, but would want different things at different times/places. we aren't using DDP next trip (staying offsite) so I guess it doesn't affect me too much, yet.....

I too can't wait for them to announce it, because we are going in January and I want to have everything planned!! The Counter service one sounds neat, but we like to be able to sit down once a day and get waited on, $50 is a lot but if they added back the tip and an appetizer, that would be great!!

Huge speculation here... if the free dining offer was only to be counter service, it wouldn't really be worth it for many people, since using a room discount with an AP would be more valuable (you can't get free dining and use an AP room discount).

This is all very interesting! I'd pay the extra $12 to have the appetizer and tip included again simply for convenience. I know we saved a ton of money when we used DDP on our last trip in Oct. I know we'd still come out ahead even with an increase in cost. I hope they announce some pricing soon! I'm anxious to get our Jan trip booked! I really thought they'd release prices in July since that's 6 months ahead and that seems to be how Disney works but no such luck. I'm going to have to call and make ADR's w/o an actual reservation! Haha!

Congrats from me too!! We are going those exact same dates jan 20-27th with our new infant too!! (well he'll be almost 5 months) Make your adr's soon! I made mine and had to change some of the times since they were already taken!

Looks like their will be a lot of MB infants there at that time. We will be there a little earlier with our new baby (5 months as well). (Jan. 3 - 18)
