F&W Festival

Can someone explain this to me better? This will be our first time going and I really don't understand the logistics of it.

Do you make an ADR to go sit in one of the restaurants in the WS to eat from a special menu?
Are F&W ADR's separate from regular dining, like the FDP?
Are there kiosks outside to sample foods?

Re: F&W Festival

they have special dinners and wine tastings that are extremely expensive ... they also have food an wine booths that are set up around world showcase that have small tasters for 3-5 dollars each taster

Re: F&W Festival

This was my experience at the Food & Wine Festival....

Each WS pavillion had small brown booths that sold 'samples' of food/drink from that area. They were probably about the size of a dessert plate and the portion was about the size of any 'side' you get with a main course. For example, next to Morocco I remember one of the items being about a 1/4 cup of couscous with roasted vegis mixed in and a kabob with two small cubes of chicken on it. I'd say that most items in these booths range from $2-$4.50 each. Som have dessert items, alcohol, or side dishes. I always remember the UK pavillion having a yummy small cup of strawberry shortcake for around $2.50ish.

I never experienced any of the conventional WS restaurants having a special menu just for food and wine. Every ADR we had I remember it being just the normal menu.

Some pavillions will also feature agricultural type items from the region, especially in the American pavillion. The Cabot cheese company was set up there, along with a tree farm from Vermont that sold gorgeous Christmas greenery through the mail.

Then there are the demonstrations. Many are free, like I know we saw a beer brewing demonstration in the American pavillion one year and we did an Australian 'wine tasting' session with a wine expert from a vineyard in Australia, which was held in that mysterious brown building closest to Mexico. I also remember the Weinkeller in the German pavillion having special wine tasting menus, along with a Norwegian beer kiosk in their pavillion.

There are also "booking" events that require you to have a reservation and there is an additional cost. For example, about 7 years ago my best friend and I did one where a Disney chef taught cooking techniques and we got to sample everything. I believe it also included a full brunch & printed information (recipes/techniques, etc.) related to the seminar.

On top of all this excitement, you'll also be able to attend any of the "Eat to the Beat" concerts in the American Gardens Theater. I haven't seen this years line-up yet but it's usually pretty diverse and I believe there are a couple different concerts throughout the night.

That's all my brain can remember at this point.

F&W starts September 27th of this year I believe. It usually runs through the beginning of November.

Re: F&W Festival

Wish said pretty much everything I was going to say. The only thing I'd add is that you can use your snack option at the kiosks. We did that a lot. We also "ate around the world" one day and got one small thing from almost every kiosk and it was wonderful! Some stuff we really hated or we really loved but it was a great way to try things you would never ever eat if you had to pay $20 or so dollars for an entree.

Re: F&W Festival

Oh thank you so much!! That was exactly the information I was looking for! I always thought it was small portions offered in booths outside until I read something about ADR's being accepted. Then I was very confused.

I have always wanted to try this and now I will. And I'm going with a friend of mine who is a real foodie and wine lover. We're a perfect match for this event!

I am off now to read the wdwinfo link.

We LOVED F&W when we went almost 3 years ago. We too used our snack options and just ate around the world! I sampled some unbelieavably delicious dishes that I never would have tried other wise. You will enjoy it!

Re: F&W Festival

I have been to F&W a few times but never to any of the special dinners. Even so, going around sampling the different foods & wines around World Showcase is a blast! I've also purchased the recipe books, wine glasses, some small specialty items. The concerts are fun too!

*sigh* I'll dumb this down:

They have FOOD

and they have WINE.

Any other questions see all the real posts.
