Logistical question about Jiko
Not sure if this question belongs here or not, so feel free to move me!
But I have ressies to Jiko on 10/22 in the evening. Earliest time for dinner they could give me was 9:10PM, but I grabbed it anyways! I heard dem short ribs were really, really, really good. ![]() We're staying at All Stars Music, and will be at AK in the evening, but even with the evening EHM, I think AK will be closing at 7PM. I'm planning on just staying at AK until closing, and then hang around AKL till ressie time. My question is: How do I get back to All Stars Music after?? There aren't any busses then, right? Do I just ask a CM to call for a taxi? ![]() Sorry for the long convoluted question, and thanks for any advice/suggestions!

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
That would take about an hour depending on bus times. It could work out that Epcot or MGM are open late enough on those nights and you could hop on one of those buses.

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
You have to grab a bus to DTD and then catch a bus to your resort

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
better late than never! =)
latest park closing that day is supposedly Epcot at 9PM. guess depending on how long dinner at Jiko is, we would probably hafta take a ride into PI. idk if the hubby wants to wait or not. we just might be experiencing food coma and want to be rolled out, then. heheheeh although, if we get to PI, stopping by Raglan Road might be tempting...

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
You're lucky I'm such an expert on this subject and because we'll be there the exact same time, I can give you advice with no hesitation.
Quite simply, your only options are the bus to DTD and change for a bus back to the All Stars or a taxi. In the end, you're probably going to be better off with a taxi. You'll probably be wrapping up your meal around 11, so if you do the buses, you won't be getting back to your own hotel until Midnight at the earliest. The best would be if you have a car, but I'm guessing you're flying in and won't be renting one. Sadly, Disney Transport's biggest weakness is no service between resorts. I've even almost been stranded at the Grand Floridian after eating at Narcoossee's and I was staying at the Contemporary because the monorail shut down just before 11. If I'd missed that last train (which I almost did) I would have had no choice but to hire a taxi or do the two bus shuffle, despite being able to see my destination because there is no walkway that extends over the MK service canal. To restate, it's a taxi, or the WDW equivalent to taking a bus from Paramus to the GWB bus terminal and changing for a bus back to Hackensack. I'd pay the $20 and grab a cab! If you do manage to finish by 10:30, you might be lucky enough to find the Animal Kingdom bus still running. If it is still running, you will be able to transfer to an All Stars bus at AK, but you'll be cutting things very close.

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
OMG, Soundgod, it really did hit home when you said GWB bus terminal...that alone is enough to discourage me. I go to work from there every day, and the commute... Lord.
Nuh-uh, forget what hubby says -- I ain't chancin it. We'll be grabbin a taxi and be comfy-ly cabbed back. Why ruin a nice evening at a nice restaurant with double transfers. Thank you for the breakdown/reality check!

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
emperisse, I grew up in Clifton. We all know it's easier to get into the city than it is to get from town to town on a bus in North Jersey. I chose my example because I knew it would be the perfect illustration for you.

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
So the Disney bus system is run by the same people as NJ Transit. Awesome.

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
It's a lot better, you just can't get directly from the parks to DTD and you can't get a direct bus from one resort to another. Also, they shut down the routes from parks to hotels about 2 hours after the parks close. They do start running buses to parks about 90 minutes before normal open and an hour before park open on EMH mornings. The monorails start running at 7 AM.

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
When you get to AKL, don't forget to ask the front desk for night vision goggles to view the animals while you are waiting for your ADR. Its pretty amazing.

Re: Logistical question about Jiko
Thanks, great tip, Remy! I'm gonna look through facts and posts on the AKL to see if there's anything else we shouldn't miss. I've never been at that resort, and I'm looking forward to it!
