Suggestions Please!!!

Here is the dilemma have. I want to try some of the nicer sit down places this time around. For example, the Yachtman Steakhouse, LeCellier, Hollywood and Vine, Cape May Cafe, and Palio's just to name a few. The problem is my son who will be twelve by the time we visit. My DS's are tall (dad is 6'4") and they take after him so Ry certainly has looked 12 for sometime so no passing him off as younger. However, he eats like a bird. I hate the thought of spending 23.99 for an adult dinner for him when he probably won't even eat half of it. Are the restaurant sticklers for ages or is there a chance he could order from the childs dinner selections (sometimes). I know when we go to the Cape May he will eat tons of clams because he loves them and I don't mine paying if he's eat, but the thought of seeing a dinner only picked at and then paying full price it just seems so wasteful. Should I forget it and stick to things they like and spurge only on (2) PS like Cape May Cafe and Hollywood and Vine. Any suggestions?

Paula

You could always share a meal. Most entree are HUGE at the WDW restaurants anyway. I personally wouldn't try to pass him off as a different age but just ask the server if it would be possible to order off the kids menu. Being WDW they just might say sure.

Disney has never asked how old my kids are, we have just always ordered kids meals. At buffets, we pay the right price, but if he isn't going to eat it, why pay for it.

I have know plenty of adults who have ordered kids meals at many of the restaurants, so why can't a 14 year old?

sharing a meal sounds like a good idea. don't try to rob the kid of experiencing fine dining at certain resteraunts because he doesn't eat much.

by the way, i remember a while back that when someone says "..eats like a bird" and means they really don't eat, it's the opposite. i can't remember where i heard this from but they said the birds do eat quite a bit of food. it just appears that they don't eat. for some reason, i wanna say sesame street, but i could be wrong.

I bet at places like Hollywood and Vine, for example...if they won't let him dine as a "child", maybe they would let you go next door to 50's prime time and get a plate "to go" and he could eat his to go meal while you are eating H&V buffet....??

My hubby and I shared several meals at WDW last trip. On counter service, we would pay the dollar extra and get a double burger and then split it...I still had a hard time finishing just my half. We also shared a meal at Le Cellier...roast beef sandwich. We each got soup along with it.

I agree with the others, just ask, because they will most likely say yes!!

my parents are having a tough time right now deciding where to take my brother, who is a picky eater, to places to eat. they don't want to spend a lot of money on food he won't eat. so i can understand exactly what you're going through, preidel24. i enjoyed going to the buffet's but at the same time, i felt kinda guilty having this money spent on a buffet and i get one plate. i can only eat so much if i'm really hungry. then i'll be happy that the money was wisely spent.

Can you really do this? This would solve several of our restaurant meal problems!

Will counter service places package a meal to go or should I carry a throw away container for this situation?

Several of the kids menu's, at places we grown ups want to eat, do not have food our picky three will eat (none like mac and cheese or PBJ, go figure!). If we can grab counter service for them and take it in with us we would be very happy!

Thanks!
