Re: Worst ever (food)

Our vote has to go to Coral Reef. We have officially renamed it Coral refund!

Everything we all ordered was bland and cold. To top it off the service was horrible to boot.

Re: Worst ever (food)

After reading this thread, I am rethinking our decision to try San Angel Inn when we go this Christmas. We have been saying that we should try it for a while now. We think it looks cool when we go into the Pavillian and it always smells so good...

Ditto. That's the only restaurant we'll never return to.

We won't be going back to Coral Reef, but it's not because of bad food or service.
It's because their menu has been so scaled back since they started the MYW meal plans in 2005 and the removal first of lobster, and now of fried shrimp. Coral Reef doesn't even appeal to me anymore, regardless of how good it was the last time.
And in case you haven't noticed, lobster is now extinct in all but Narcoossee's and fried food is pretty much off all of the menus "worldwide"!

You gotta understand, you STILL have to have pride in what you do. There is a vast difference in this world between quantity and quality. If I wanted quantity, I would go to McDonalds. If I want quality, I pay for it, and dammit, I assume with the price I am paying Disney, quality should be, to pardon the pun, Job 1.

I understand though, even the best quality minded individual does have a bad day, but with the multiple people here responding to San Angel as the worst, the chance it was all the same day? Small.

Re: Worst ever (food)

Okay, I was just reminded of the worst food on earth. ANYTHING at the Augusta National golf course during Masters week. Pimento Cheese, Barbecue, Ham and Cheese, etc, it does not matter. You are paying to get into the most expensive/popular sports event on earth. Yes, the sandwiches are about $1.25 each, but H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E.... Good thing the beer is cheap, and honestly cheap, like $2 with a souvenir cup. Still, completely worth it, just like Disney.

I have to say that I once knew a chef from Jamaica who cooked at Wolfgang Puck Express and, he may be the minority who knows, but I didn't feel sorry for him at all. He ALWAYS said that fellow Disney cast members & guests treated him better than ANY restaurant he's ever worked at & he absolutely thought it was the best place to be a chef.

When I give a bad review of a restaurant 1/2 of the time it has nothing to do with the chef specifically. Maybe I can tell that it was pre-packaged food just microwaved on a plate, bad quality food, not fresh, etc... Those are probably all managment decisions not the chef working hard behind the scenes.

I appreciate all the hard work cast members do in WDW but that doesn't mean I have to like everything 100%. TRUST ME, if I did a poor job as a teacher, parents would complain. Quality is an expectation while in WDW.

Very well said. Sometimes I wonder if people's devotion to Disney excuses alot. I think WDW is fantastic - if it wasn't we wouldn't be DVC members and we wouldn't take a trip there every year - BUT that doesn't mean I'll turn a blind eye to everything. There is a lot of good food at WDW - but there is a lot of less than great food too. And for the prices you pay for it - it should be at least "good".

Re: Worst ever (food)

Worst food for me, ever, was breakfast at Spoodles. They cooked bell peppers into the eggs, into the potatoes, and then decorated the plate with MORE bell peppers.

Disney chefs -- I hate bell peppers, do you hear me? I can type louder, if it will help!!!
