Seriously, though - we try to follow the line, but there are times we bypass the line. Boma is the prime example - there are so many "stations" that form their own lines.

Re: Buffet etiquette ??

I don't wait in line at a buffet, whether I'm at Disney or not. I jump around the buffet. I'm not going to wait in line at the soup station if I don't want soup simply because that's where the end of the line is. I hop in grab what I want and hop right back out again. If you don't like it, tough, deal with it.

Re: Buffet etiquette ??

This topic makes me laugh as I've heard that both ways are the "right way" to proceed through a buffet line.

This is what i do.

If the buffet is crowded, most of the area blocked by hungry bodies, I'll follow in line behind everyone, no matter how long it takes for that one individual to scrutinize EVERY morsel of food (insert favorite John Pinette quote here)

If its a slow day, mostly empty, I'll hop around visiting only the areas that interest me, bypassing the diner that fishes every mushroom sliver from the Chicken Marsala they just scooped on their plate and places them back on the buffet... (insert favorite John Pinette quote here)

Re: Buffet etiquette ??

i am pretty much jen on this one. Although at places like 1900 park fare, i tend to pop in and out of where I need to be as there are so many different areas to get food at. At places such as Crystal palace or Chef Mickeys I tend to just follow on in line and wait my turn.

That being said...if I happen to be behind 'mr or mrs can't make a decision for toffee' then I will only wait so long before i get grumpy and politely but firmly go on past them and fill my plate!!!!

You call tell those DCL buffet line veterans. Of course dead men may tell no tails, but the avator pic is a dead giveaway!

I sneak in on the "kids" side of the buffett, hit the omlet station the back track for the rest of the goodies.

Re: Buffet etiquette ??

I have been told at Tusker house that there was not one line, just go to where you want food and get it. At least there, it is a room full of mini stations, so you can get food from all over.

Re: Buffet etiquette ??

Line jumping at buffets is totally situational. It's not practical at H&V... it's a little tight. But at CP, everything is wide open and there's no point to stand in line if all you're waiting to get is dessert.

The best thing to do is ask. Some people are very particular about what bites of food they want on their plate and my experience is line jumping at buffets isn't really a big deal.... unless you end up taking the last piece of something....

Re: Buffet etiquette ??

We've been told by CMs at Boma, Tusker House, and Trail's End to go to the area you are wanting. If there is a line there, get in line. Otherwise get the selection you want and leave. In fact, it really backs things up when people wait at the back of the first line. (Ex. waiting in line at the meat pod when you want salads) Have seen this happen especially at Boma.
