walk ups for Chef Mickey's

anyone had any luck going to Chef Mickey's for breakfast w/out PS ? Do you pay for parking when you are coming in only to dine?

I've done it for dinner without any problems. I would guess as :long as you do it at the beginning of the breakfast rush ~ 7:30ish you wouldn't have any problems.

Just tell the security guard that you are eating at Chef Mickey's and parking will not be an issue. They give you a hang tag for the car.

We go to Chef Mickey's for breakfast at least once a year and I have seen lots of walk ups. I think this also depends on the number of people in your party.

we have always just walked up .. this past august we were a party of 6 and waited less then 10 minutes for a table.. last year when we met Dixie and her family there for breakfast we were a party of 7 and had even less then a 10 minute wait for a table ..there is a fantastic waiting area that over looks the lake and beach too :)
as for the parking .. no info there because we always use disney transportation.
If you are staying at a WDW resort then you wouldnt have to pay for parking any where on WDW property. If you are planning to go to Chef Mickeys on the same day that you are going to MK then you could always park at MK and take the Monorail over to the Contemp for Chef Mickeys..

I think what you're asking is do you have to pay the theme park parking fee since you have to go through the MK toll booths to gain access to the Contemporary Hotel. The answer is no. Just tell the toll booth attendant that you're going to the Contemporary and he'll let you through without paying. The attendants don't even ask if you're a hotel guest, if you're going to eat, whatever.

The security guard on duty at the hotel parking lot will be more specific, though, before letting you through. Tell him you're going to eat at Chef Mickey's. He'll ask to see your driver's license and then will give you a parking pass good for a certain amount of time. You also have the option of driving up to the entrance and using valet parking.

Enjoy!

I've also done it for Dinner. It depends on how busy they are, whether there is any availability. I don't see why breakfast would be any different.

We've walked up and ended up at a table within sixty seconds. I don't think it's as terrible as people make it out to be, because we've never had trouble getting a table for breakfast.

Besides, there's always people (like us) who skip their PS for one reason or another...this trip it was because we ran out of money and ended up at the ASMo food court for our last breakfast! :laugh

I tried a walk-in for breakfast once and had no problem. I waited about 10 to 15 min. I have waited that long for a PS table. As someone suggested, I would definately go as early as you can muster.

Thanks everyone

I will definately do the walk up thing. I have PS for 10/16 (my birthday) but since we will probably have just a 4 day hopper I rather spend it a MK instead of eating.:)

ok this is just a sugggestion .. as I mentioned before you can park at MK and take the monorail over to the contemp for Chef Mickey's. If you are planning that day at MK I think breakfast starts around 7 am .. anyone feel free to jump in and correct me on the time. Now because I never drive to any of the parks and only take Disney transportation I am not sure how early they allow you to park in the MK parking lot. But I am sure someone knows this. I dont recall reading any where if you are staying on or off property either. But again if you are staying at any WDW resort then you will recieve a piece of paper that shows you are a guest of ______ resort .. this is what gives you free parking at the parks and at other resorts, when you have it in your windshield. We have also just walked over to the Contemp from MK which can sometimes be a little faster then the walk up to the monorail and the wait on the monorail.

Every year we do breakfast once at Crystal Palace and dinner at The Garden Grille. This time we want to try Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Any suggestions what character dinner to try?

Liberty Tree Tavern in MK! They to a mock Thanksgiving Feast. It is served family style and features Minnie and Friends. I have read wonderful reviews on this dinner. Another dinner I have been hearing wonderful things about is 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. You can go to wdwig.com and read all of the paticulars on each.
