Breakfast @ Chef Mickeys or Ohana's
Hi there. I am after some advice. I have heard so much about Chef Mickey but never been and I was wondering what it was like compared to breakfast at Ohana's at the Poly which my family and I are more than familiar with and to be truthfull, think it is unserpassable.

I haven't been to Ohana's, but I know people who feel the same way about Ohana's as you do. They ABSOLUTELY love it! However, being an experienced Chef Mickey's guest (I was only there once this August!!! ), I will say that this place wins a spot on my MUST DO list for every trip! The theming of the restaurant was great, the character interaction is among the best in WDW, the music, singing and dancing is fun (waving around the napkins to music! :D ), and the food is YUMMY!!!!!!! I loved the selection and they had a lot for kids of all ages to choose from! Even Krispy Kreme's, and cookies that can be decorated with gummy bears, gummy worms, sprinkles, etc. FOR BREAKFAST!!! It was GREAT!!!!!!!!

I'm a big fan of Ohana's it my fav WDW eatery, but not my fav for breakfast. Chef Mickey's although I find a little loud and glaring on the eyes is a place and experience not to be missed. No other eatery in the world makes such a fuss over birthdays and other events. You can't lose out with either one and I have them both PS's for our trip this Nov.
If you haven't tried Chef Mickey's and can only do one I'd try Chef Mickey's for a totally new experience. It so very different from Ohanas and you'll be constantly entertained. Paula

We did Chef Mickey's for breakfast last year ,and dinner this year. Both were great! We went to 'Ohanas for dinner and it was excellent. They entertained the kids and the dinner was great.I don't know what there breakfast is like.I would suggest Chef Mickey's for breakfast.Plus dinner at O'hannas w/ a view of Cinderella's castle is beautiful.Request a table near the window. We called that morning for PS and got lucky!HTH:)

We go to Chef Mickey's every trip for breakfast and this year we added dinner at Chef Mickey's (wonderful too). I think the breakfast at CM's is wonderful and a lot of fun. I have never been to 'Ohana for breakfast but I hear it is great too. I guess if table service is important to you go to 'Ohana, if you like a buffet with lots of choices for your family then hit Chef Mickey's. I think the food at both will be great and the character interaction wonderful. I think this is a win-win choice for you.

Gee....I have been to both (although Chef Mickey's was for dinner)....and I can tell you this....we are once again going to Chef Mickey's, and we are returning to Ohana's for supper....Ohana's is a little quieter, Chef Mickey's is a big party....if you have never done it, give it a try. It's a lot of fun.

My suggestion would be to try Chef Mickey's since you have done O'hanas and then try to go to Ohana's for dinner one night. Since you like Ohana's so much, I'd be interested to see how you compare the two if you do decide to do Chef Mickeys. Let us know.

We LOVE Ohana's for breakfast!!! I will admit that we have never been to Chef Mickey's so I can't compare the two. We enjoy the parade through the restaurant where the kids get noisemakers. The food is served family-style which I personally appreciate with kids whose eyes are MUCH bigger than their stomachs. ;)

Thanks for the great feedback everyone.
One thing appears to be apparent and that is we must give CM a go. It does sound great fun especialy for the family. Fortunately we will be in a position to do both so I truly look forward to breakfasts in both restaurants.

We had the Ohana breakfast Sept. 2003 and Chef Mickey in May 1994. My favorite was definitely OHANA for several reasons!!! The food was excellent and we enjoyed the food being brought to the table, whereas at Chef Mickey we had to go to the buffet. We have 2 small DD and leaving the table is inconvenient. Also, the restaurant area of Ohana is MUCH larger and more open than at Chef Mickey. This enabled the girls to get down and dance and interact with the characters much easier. They even had a "parade" around the room with Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale. When we were at the Ohana, the characters were at our table so much that it was almost difficult to eat, but I don't remember there being nearly as much interaction at Chef Mickey's.
Alas, my DD are currently WAY into the Princesses, so we opted for the Princess Storybook Breakfast and dinner with Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare this October. I know that I will greatly miss this breakfast .... but, there is always next time. :p Only 8 days until our next WDW vacation!!!! |

I love this thread!!! I knew I wanted to go back to Chef Mickey's for sure in December, but was wondering about O'hanas. And now, with all of these AWESOME reviews for Ohana's breakfast, I think we will give it a go! For both breakfast AND dinner! I know there are no characters at dinner, which is fine! And this really works out since we will be staying at the Poly the first part of our trip!!!!! Chef Mickeys for breakfast and Ohana's for breakfast and dinner! I better make those PS's.........:dazed
