We went to the BBQ in July and had a great time. The food was so good. You could do as much as you want during the BBQ, it was so fun. If you want to interact with the characters they are out a lot, if you want to sit and watch you can just do that too. I would do this again in cooler weather, it was sooo hot in July when we went.

I mean the following in a very reasonable and respectful way.

Though most all the major dinner-and-a-show things you could do are not oriented towards 2 yr olds in any way, BUT many would also say a 2 yr would have less of an impact on the festivities at MBYB than say the Luau or Hoop De Doo if unexpected (or expected) fussiness occur. I include the Luau and HDD because of similar cost and that's what initially the question seems to point.

Now my point is really this: You should consider going to the Barbecue because you (as parents with a 2yr old) can! Get it? Lots of folks concern themselves about disturbing others to the point of doing nothing. And though I applaud those parents who do not inflict their children on others, MBYB gives you a great deal of flexibility and control on the environment that can affect your child and vice versa. Remember there are big differences in times and facilities for these Dinner/Show activities. Many parents say their child are less trouble at night, some say more so during the day. Obviously and ultimately you are best judge.

I say give it a shot because I bet it's one of the only things you may have considered to do for yourself and still involve the whole albeit very young family.

My DD was almost 3 when we went. She loved it and the photos of her dancing on Daddy's feet are priceless! She loved dancing with Mickey and Goofy too! The live music kept her entertained as did the hosts of the party that stay on the dance floor teaching you the country line dancing moves. Phantom's comment about it being kid friendly is exactly right. The food is buffet style so you can come and go as you please... they even had hot dogs for the little ones. DD was thrilled with the giant vanilla sheet cake with patriotic frosting! It's the kind of thing that I'm glad we experienced once. But, to appreciate it again, it needs to be a while before we go back.

I am so glad you are going to try it Kim. I thought it was so fun and I really loved the food. (Keep in mind, this is not a 5 star restaurant, just good picnic food.) I don't care how wild your child is, he/she will disturb no one at the BBQ. The place is crazy with fun, music, and characters. I saw so many families who didn't sit down the entire time. You are free to move around the entire time to do what ever you want.

Tip!!! If you want a seat in the middle area where you can see the stage and all that is going on you need to get to FW and line up early. An hour easly in the summer was about right. We got there 30 minutes early and there was a pretty good line already formed. We weren't too concerned with where we sat but I can see why you would want a front and center seat.

If you are staying on property, I would suggest taking the boat from MK to FW. The boat dock is right by Pioneer Hall (for the HHD) and the BBQ area. If you take a bus to FW you have to take another bus to the BBQ area. The boat ride is so relaxing and different from a bus ride. We were staying at WL so getting back after the BBQ was so easy, just a quick boat ride back.

Here's another "put it on the list to do next time" items. Do they have an afternoon or early evening show?

There is only one BBQ per night and I think it starts at 6 pm. You get you food as you enter and the show starts as you are sitting down. People showed up as much as an hour late and some people started leaving an hour into the night. You are free to do as much or as little as you want and you can easily come and go as you want.
