Seeking opinions and suggestions

Hi Gang!:)

Okay I'm less than 2 weeks from calling for my PS's and starting to get psyched! It's been 3 LONG years since our last WDW trip, and I CAN'T WAIT!:laugh

Anyway, I think I have my PS's almost figured out, but I would appreciate your honest advice, opinions, and suggestions, really! :dazed :D

Tues, 2/10 arrival day go to MK dinner at CP or LTT?

Wed, 2/11 MGM day lunch at Sci-Fi and dinner at the Cape May Clam Bake OR the H&V Fantasmic package?

Thurs, 2/12 MK EE day and please oh please Lord, breakfast at CRT!!! Dinner that evening at Whispering Canyon

Fri, Sat, and Sun doing PS's with the M&G group!:)
(including Ohana, Chef Mickey's, and Ice Cream Social)

I'd still like to squeeze in lunch or dinner at San Angel and 50's Prime Time Cafe. I'd also have to do the Epcot Princess breakfast and/or 1900 Park Fare dinner. We are leaving on Tues. the 17th.

How does that sound? What would you add or delete?
Am I forgetting anything? My kids are 8 and 6 (2 boys) and a 3 year old Disney Princess.:laugh

I really want to get CRT for her, I'm getting nervous that we wont get it!:nooo: Is Fantasmic too scary for her? Oh and rides, is Dinosaur too scary for my boys? How about test track?

Sorry for rambling, but it's been a while, and on our last trip we spent most of our time in the MK, especially Fantasyland, lol. ;)

Thanks in advance!

Amy

Amy,

How exciting!!! It just seems like yesterday I was making my PS's. I think you have some great choices. We will be doing both Hollywood and Vine and Cape May Cafe I can let you know how I like them. We are celebrating Paulies 9th birthday at Cape May. I don't have any princesses just princes so I've never done CRT or Epcot Storybook but I bet she'd love it. My DS's are 8, 13 and 15 and our 8 year old loved Dinosaur although it is intense. Fantastic I though wasn't scary but it is dark and loud. I also like LTT better than CP we really didn't care for CP (it just might have been an off day - but we did enjoy LTT) If your going for characters not the food then I like Tigger and Pooh at CP better. One of the best times we had at a character dinner was 1900 Park Fair. We saw Mary Poppins, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Suie, Perla, Beast (quite impressive) and Goofy and they all interacted a lot with the children.

Your plans sound wonderful. You should do the H&V package for Fantasmic!. After all that I have read on how much easier it is with the package, I'm totally sold on it. I'm crossing my fingers on the CRT for you. Your three year old princess will be in heaven there. I love Whispering Canyone too. I ate there several times on my last trip and have plans to eat there next trip and I'm not even staying at the WL. My DD and I loved that place. I'd switch Sci-fi for 50's prime time for lunch. I didn't have a good experience there and think their food is a tad over priced, but that's just an opinion. I know others that love that place. I can smell your excitement. It's either yours or mine backing up on me. I get to make my first PS next Sunday and I'm THRILLED!!! Don't you just love the planning? I know I do.:) :)

Guess this will show difference of opinion, but I like CP more than I liked LTT. The food at LTT seemed very ordinary to me and the CP had a nicer variety of foods. Could be difference in taste or maybe an off night at one of the places, who knows?

I liked H&V, but haven't done a meal at Cape May so can't help you much there.

As for CRT ressies, maybe everybody went in Sept/Oct/Nov because of the FTP so Jan/Feb will be empty. I called for my CRT ressie in the afternoon and still got it (for mid-Jan) and with my choice of times so hopefully, there will be ressies for you too.

And the rides? We skipped all of those, but I have a 2yo and there is no way I would go on Test Track either (was in a bad accident a few years back, no wish to relive those feelings).

Enjoy your planning!

I would definitely switch Sci-Fi Diner to Prime Time. Like most, I agree that the food at Sci-Fri is over-priced and just so-so (and I am being charitable here). Also, not much for your little Princess. Prime Time serves "comfort food" and there is always something going on for everyone to enjoy. Hope you get your CRT res. I'd go with the Fantasmic Dinner Package. Only you know your kids, Fantasmic can rather intense. It really is a judgment call.

If you get the CRT res., why not think of doing Donald's Prehistoric Breakfastosauraus, for the boys. I think they would like it more than another "Princess" breakfast.

As for Test Track, it really isn't that scary, just bumpy, and for a short period of time, fast. I think your boys would love it. Dinosaur? Again, a judgment call, but I think it would be way too intense for them. (Maybe a fearless 8 year old would be o.k.).

I do love San Angel Inn and the atmosphere is one that most kids enjoy. The food is pretty good. The little boat ride can keep kids occupied while they're waiting. It was the first ride my daughter ever took on her own.

I would go for the H&V Fantamic package without hesitation. We throughly enjoyed our meal and loved not having to stand in line for the show. We had great seats and the show is the best at DW! (in my humble opinion).

Paula, I can't wait to hear your reviews on the Cape May and H&V dinners.;) You must be getting sooo excited!

Dana, I am so glad you love Whispering Canyon, I am really looking forward to trying it.

Alissa, thanks for the encouragement on CRT, I would be over-joyed to get it this trip. We have been lucky on our other trips and breakfast there has always been a thrill for us. Now that my DD is 3 she knows and loves each of the princesses so it would be the MOST special meal of all, fingers crossed!

llama, I have eaten at 50's Prime Time and loved it, just thought we'd try Sci-Fi- this time for the experience and to say we did, hahaha. As for Donald's breakfast, I'd love to try it too, but will probably save it for the next trip. Chef Mickey's and the Ice Cream Social are right up the boys' alley anyway.

Leslie, your review on H&V and Fantasmic are what got me thinking about doing it! We have eaten at H&V twice for the character breakfasts, boy I'll miss them, and loved it.

Thanks to all of you!
Keep the input coming!
;)

- Tues, 2/10 arrival day go to MK dinner at CP or LTT?

We love CP too, and there is more variety for my picky choosies on the buffet than at LTT. My son eats a ton of one item and my daughter eats little snatches of everything. CP fits our family better, and it just seems more festive.

-Wed, 2/11 MGM day lunch at Sci-Fi and dinner at the Cape May Clam Bake OR the H&V Fantasmic package?

Oh boy. We walked by the Clam Bake and just about died and went to heaven with the aroma. You are going during a slower period and may not want to risk the 'must be there' requirements of the Fantasmic package with your young'un. It's nice, but with a three year old, I think I'd rethink this one.

We also love the PTC, and tried the Sci Fi this time. Be aware that if your daughter requires a high chair, you will not be seated at a car, but at one of the picnic table along the back. We sat there as a walk-up, and actually prefered it since the dashboard lights were glaringly bright for us. Will say though, it was the quietest restaurant we'd eaten in... LOL! We were glad we stopped and tried it.

- Thurs, 2/12 MK EE day and please oh please Lord, breakfast at CRT!!! Dinner that evening at Whispering Canyon

OK, can I make a HUGE recommendation here? Don't do CRT on an EE day, unless you can get a late reservation. EE days are best for doing Fantasyland until you're spinning teacups start dancing like dolls in front of your eyeballs. You are liable to get there, ride one ride with three kids in tow, then get so nerved up to head to the castle for The Breakfast that you miss getting onto the rides. Plus, when you call for CRT, you will be blessedly lucky to just shout "CRT FOR FIVE, ANY TIME" before it is booked out. What we do is start booking for CRT on the very first morning we get there, and pray to get in any time. If we do, we work our itinerary around that morning. If we don't, then we move onto the next day. We've done CRT on each of our last six vacations, and it's become a family tradition for us.

-Fri, Sat, and Sun doing PS's with the M&G group!
(including Ohana, Chef Mickey's, and Ice Cream Social)

What a blast - that is going to be soooo mcuh fun. Trust DA to pick out the funnest places to have meetings. :D

-I really want to get CRT for her, I'm getting nervous that we wont get it! Is Fantasmic too scary for her? Oh and rides, is Dinosaur too scary for my boys? How about test track?

Just go with the flow - if CRT is *that* important to you, then work your week around it. You can always call again and try to book it later in the week, if you don't like what you've come up with on the first few mornings of calls, if you've come up with anything. If you haven't, well, those first few mornings become practice for you and you get better the more you dial.

Fantasmic is still to scary for my DD, but she has an overactive imagination and a penchant for twirling Daddy around her little finger. Test Track is a blast for both of my kids, and a huge family favorite. I just compare it to my husband's driving on the highway iwth the moon roof open and they were good with that.

Dinosaur was another story... :dazed

Okay, Amy, here are my opinions...

Tues. CP or LTT? -- I would opt for LTT. I really like the food and the atmosphere. I don't care for the food as much at CP. I only go there for the characters who I think are great.

Wed. -- I have never done Cape May Clam Bake and after MickeyMac's description, I would want to give this a try. We have done H&V Fantasmic Package and would recommend this in a minute. My girls (4 and 6) saw this last trip and loved it. They are pretty adventure hardy and don't scare to easily. My niece who is almost 6 would have been terrified. So I guess base this decision on how your little girl handles things. I don't think it is scary as much as it has loud noises and fire.

Thurs. -- Good Luck on CRT if you decide to still do this. I would probably try on other mornings as well. Whispering Canyon is good. I would eat there again but I prefer breakfast over dinner. It is a fun dining experience. Be sure to ask for ketchup!

The Princess Storybook Breakfast? We had a so-so experience here. I'm not sure if we would do this meal again. The food was really good. The character interaction was very brief. I felt very rushed with the characters. The princesses were nice but definitely in a hurry. If you get CRT, I would definately do something else. If not, then I would give it a try.

Dinosaur? Definitely not for your 3yr old (she probably is not tall enough anyway). The ride is pretty intense. I took my oldest when she was 4 turning 5 and regretted it (remember she is adventurous). She was startled but okay at the parks. However, she did have some nightmares after we got home. Maybe the lines won't be too long and either you or your DH could ride it first and then decide.

Good luck with all of your planning!!:)

Thanks so much for you input everyone, it's exactly the kind of insight I was hoping for. I am still gonna try for CRT, but if we don't get it that Thurs., I'll try for ANY day I can get.

Gee, I sure wish they didn't wait so long to post the park hours and show times. I'm really hoping for an e-ride night in there somewhere, too.
There is so much that I still haven't experienced at WDW, and I just can't wait to hit the parks!:)
I guess I'll try out Dinosaur and TT first, and decide if my guys could handle it.

Thanks again!

Ame, your PS's look great. I am praying for CRT for you, too! When do you start calling? I hope you get in!!!! Your little guys might not, but hey...you and Kathleen will LOVE it. And DH too....what guy doesn't love seeing beautiful princesses running around?!? :laugh

I haven't been to LTT, but it definitely seems that there is more of a choice at Crystal Palace. I am actually eating there for dinner in December...I will let you know how I liked it!

I have never done the Sci Fi Diner, but I am thinking I would probably like 50s Prime Time better, but who knows....

As for San Angel Inn, I HIGHLY recommend it! You and DH should spend your birthday there...a nice, romantic restaurant...with DELICIOUS food and margaritas!!!!! I want to go there in December, too!

It is so exciting to make PS's...although I only have three made for my December trip!!! I still have to make some, and this is giving me the push to do it! I have been so busy lately, and I really haven't had the time.

Thanks so much girls! I really value your input.

I have taken MickeyMac's advice and am going to try for CRT on Wed (NOT an EE day).
That means I call THIS THURSDAY!!!!

Wish me luck!

If I don't get it for the Wed, then I'll just keep trying and schedule the rest of my PS's around getting CRT.:dazed

I know how you feel! I feel like the success of my trip hinges solely on CRT! I will be calling in 3 weeks for CRT and I'm getting nervous too. Good luck! I'll be sending you some pixie dust because if you get it, it may be a good sign that I will!!!!!

Good luck Amy, I am sending you lots of Pixie Dust. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Do you have a second phone so DH can help call? Start early, about 6-7 minutes early. When I wanted an Illuminations cruise I practiced the night before and talked to a really nice CM who gave me a couple of tips. I also logged online and checked the atomic clock to get the exact time.
