Favorite Counter Service at WDW?

I don't think we've ever talked about this, but I was curious as to everyones favorite "counter service" places to eat. And at those places, what were some of the things you ordered. So...What is your favorite Counter Service food places? Guess I'll start off.....

We eat at the restaurants quite a bit, but we also eat at the counter service places. One of my favorite ff (fast food) places to eat would have to be "Toy Story Pizza Planet". I wouldn't have chosen it, but DD insisted on eating there since Toy Story is one of her favorite movies. I was pleasantly suprised though by the taste and value. We ended up ordering just the individual cheese and pepperoni pizzas and drinks (they have meal deals with ind. pizza, salad and reg. drink for around $8.50, but we weren't in the salad mood). The individual pizzas were pretty big and once again we had leftovers from mine and DD, but DH finished them off for us. The pizzas were only around $5.50 which is a pretty good value considering a bottle of water is 2.50. For a good fast fairly inexpensive meal, this is a pretty good place.

I haven't found many counter service restaurants that I like, but there are three that stand out. The first would be the Harbor House in MK. They have this ham, cheese and coleslaw sandwich on rye that is out of this world. By far the best counter service sandwich anywhere. The second would be Aunt Poly's on Tom Sawyer Island, when it is open. They have cold fried chicken, and great peanut butter sandwiches for the kids. It is nice and shady, not too crowded and very reasonably priced. The third would be the counter service in Japan in EPCOT. I found the food very good, and the kids love the noodles. The counter service in Morroco was very good as well.

So, does the Patiserie in France count as counter service? If so, then that would be my overall choice!

Unfortunately, they don't have their cold fried chicken anymore, or didn't in April. We went to eat there just for that and were dissapointed that they no longer had that on their menu. I ended up getting a turkey and swiss, but didn't realize it was on rye bread. I don't care for rye and wasn't in the mood for it that day, so when I got the sandwich I was dissapointed. I ended up going up and asking for two pieces of white bread (feeling embarassed) but they were really nice about about it. Maeg got the peanut butter sandwich w/ milk and cookies and that just hit the spot for her. Hopefully they will bring back the cold fried chicken. But I do agree, it is still a very nice peaceful place to sit back and relax at and very reasonable.

I like the Electric Umbrella in Future World at EPCOT. The chicken strips are very yummy. If it isn't too hot outside or raining you can sit outside. There you can Listen to the sounds of Future World, watch the fountain, and do a little people watching while eating. :)

and I've never tried Aunt Poly's guess I'll haft to try it since everyone seems to like it

Count me in for Aunt Polly's restaurant. My wife and I love getting apple pie a-la mode when we're there (of course if I eat it all I have this doom of getting stuck in one of the caves!). Whatever you can't finish, there will be plenty of beggars looking for scraps (I felt like Tippi Hedren in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds as they were eye-balling my food!).

As far as MK goes, no doubt about it, El Pirata y el Perico in Adventureland has the best Taco Salads. I get at least one every trip. Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is also a tradition. They have great chicken sandwiches there. In Epcot, again, I have to go with the Taco Salads at Cantina de San Angel. I really don't have a favorite in MGM, or AK. I just eat whatever I'm in the mood for in those two parks.

I love the Toy Story Pizza Planet at MGM! It's great, and I might be a little too old, but I have a blast in there! Oh, and Mickey, I love these cool new smilies!

:bandit this is my favorite one!

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe was a place I found food the kids would actually eat! The chicken sandwich was great! And the kids sat down and watched the show on stage (some animatronic bear? or alien? ) Anyway, they thought he was funny, and actually ate some 'real' food!

Re: Favorite Counter Service at WDW?

Pecos Bills in Liberty land/adventure land is the absolute best in MK for a dress-it-your-way hamburger and fries. They have skillet onions, sauteed mushrooms, melted cheese for fries or hamburgers and chili. As well as your normal fixin's lettuce, musturd etc.... They have other stuff as well but I can't get past the burger. THe harbor house is great too. Go up stairs for a great view.

Hey, if you're on the dining plan, Cosmic Ray's has the rib and half-chicken combo (about 17 bucks regular). Very tasty and a real bargain on the meal plan, but be hungry.

Also, liked Flametree in AK.
