On Getting a PS for CRT Breakfast

I thought I was prepared, thanks to this site and the helpful suggestions in the "Unofficial Guide" and the very useful pscalculator.net.

I had the atomic clock ticking away on my computer. The phone in one hand ready to dial. My credit card waiting on the desk in front of me. I had memorized the buttons to push if I got through, to bypass the taped messages: 1 2 1 1 ...

6:55:00 on the atomic clock. Dialed in, heard the man's voice telling me they are closed and to call back later. Hit 1 anyway; of course nothing happened. Hung up, but happy to have the number in my phone's memory, so I only have to hit 'redial.' Ready to roll!

And then, of course, the UNEXPECTED happened.

6:58:51. Tension building. My finger itched. I hit redial - 'oh no -- too early!' I thought. 'Better hang up - the book said 6:59:50 is the time! Those 19 seconds could ruin everything!' Hesitation ...

And like before, a man's voice began talking.

Quote:
Thank you for calling Walt Dis...
But wait - is that a different voice than before? Warmer in tone? Yes, definitely different. Could I be through?

I push 1 ... but the voice continues:

Quote:
We are experiencing very high call volume at this time...
I push 1, again. And 2. And 1211, but nothing is letting me bypass the recording! 1 again, 2 again. Why won't he stop???

Quote:
Please visit our website ...
What?! NO! It's now 6:59:37! I can't redial now! It's too late! The atomic clock glares at me, screaming with the contrast of bold black numbers on that harsh white background ... I can almost hear them pounding TICK TOCK TICK TOCK, BOOM BOOM BOOM!

And then, the voice stops ...

I hear the wind blowing cold outside. Otherwise, there is silence.

Silence upstairs where the children sleep, perhaps dreaming of breakfast in a castle...

Silence on the screen before me, as the atomic clock tracks the seconds fleeting by...

And silence on the telephone line.

No "Press 1 to continue."
No "Leave a message at the beep."
Not even a "Please hang up and try again later."

Just painful, lonely, silence ...

6:59:47

My mind spirals. My shoulders shrug. In a move of final desperation, I hit the number 1 on my phone, just to see ...

For dining reservations, press
1.

Quote:
If you have been to WDW before, press 1. If not, press
2!

Quote:
Hello, my name is
"Good morning! I'd like to make a reservation for ..."

Yep, got it!

:D

Congratulations! Hope you didn't give yourself an ulcer trying to get through. Unfortunately I can't relate because I have two boys and they would KILL me if I booked CRT. Hopefully your little princess will change her mind when she gets there. Even if she doesn't, I am sure you will have a great time!

Wow...I'm exhausted from reading the post! Don't worry, I'm sure your DD will love it. I'm sure it's an intimidating thought at first, but once she's there it'll be great. Congratulations.:) :)

Thank you, and yes, I'm sure she will enjoy it when the time comes. As I explained it to her, we have to eat breakfast anyway, so why not do it in a fancy castle?

And besides, when little 2-year old sister heard the news, she exclaimed "All right! We put shoes on and go Dizzy World breffist right now?!" So I know at least one of the girls will love it!

Cheers!

:laugh :laugh LOVED THIS POST! I remember that too! But I got it too, then lost it because I had to change my trip dates, then got it again after 2-3 weeks of calling 5 times a week to see if there was a cancellation. I could've kissed that lady when she told me I got it!

I was right there with you. I had the timer up and was testing my phone to see how long it took to connect. It was two minutes prior to 7 and I got thru. I was having an out of body experience.
I got the day and the time I wanted. Right after I hung up and I was doing a little jig in the dinning room my 4 year old daughter wakes up and comes downstairs. I pick her up swing her around and tell her we are having breakfast with Cinderella. She looks at me like I am crazy and states " I know mommy she already invited me" And the magic begins!!:heart

I loved the way that you posted ....I actually felt your anticipation, tension and final excitement to know that you have a reservation. Don't worry, your little princess will be so happy once she is there.
I am hoping to be able to secure a breakfast reservation there in 3/05
