New restaurants for us!!!

I am in the middle of making PS's for our June trip. This morning I booked CRT with no problem. Actually my wife and I both got it, so I cancelled the later one. We will be entering the MK by ourselves before the park opens. COOL!!!

O.k., Here's my question. These are the new places we are going to eat. Can anyone give me feedback on any of the following?

Crystal Palace for dinner at 5:45pm
Rose & Crown for dinner at 5:00pm
Tony's Town Sqaure for lunch @ 11:00am
Hollywood & Vine for dinner @ 5:00pm
Boatwrites for Dinner @ 6:00pm
Kona Cafe for breakfast @ 8:30am
ESPN for lunch @ noon

Thanks!!!

oh yeah, we are also looking for a good restaurant in DTD. We have eaten at House of Blues, but wanted something new. We are not big seafood fans, so the Crap House is out. What about Bongo's? I love Cuban atmosphere!!!!

Gosh, the only one I can comment on is Hollywood and Vine. Great buffet. Something to please every palate. :) (I will be able to tell you about Rose and Crown when I get back!)

We LOVED Rose and Crown!! We went back in December and tried to get a PS that night for Le Cellier and they were all booked and we actually went to the Rose and Crown as a last resort. Boy were we surprised at how good the food was! Had the steak and prawns, out of this world!! They had us seated out on the patio (along with electrical heaters because it was so cold out) but we had a fantastic view of Illuminations! Definitely worth going to!

H&V is fantastic!
Crystal Palace was also wonderful when we went. It was a character lunch then
ESPN was a fun place to eat. Food was good, not outstanding but no complaints, except for the long wait!!

We LOVE the Crystal Palace for lunch so I imagine dinner must be just as good. Personally, we did not like Boatwrights. My food was terrible but the Prime Rib is good (that is what my sister had). I hope it was just an off day for them but our server wasn't good at all. I hope you have a better experience.

Jeff,

We ate at H&V last summer on the Fantasmic Dinner Package, and it was a hit for the whole family.

We have eaten at Rose & Crown twice and both meals have been great. My wife liked the Fish, I liked the Chicken, and my sons loved the pasta. In fact we are eating there this coming Sunday Night. My sons wanted to go back there. In fact they picked it second to Chef Mickeys only. With a 7:30 PS, we usulally get to sit on the patio and watch Illuminations. Even if you don't get a patio table, they will allow you to go stand on the patio and watch.

We ate at Crystal Palace last summer for lunch and enjoyed it. The sons liked the food and the characters. We are eating there for Dinner on this trip on Wednesday night. Will let you know how dinner was.

As for Kona Cafe, we had a great breakfast there last summer also. The tonga toast was great. They say they have great coffee, but neither of us are coffee drinkers.

Thanks for the replies so far!!! I am looking forward to these places, especially Rose & Crown. I love the pub atmosphere and fish & chips.

We are trying Boatwright's since we are staying at POR. I have never heard good or bad until today. Thanks Willbegone. I hope our experience is better!!!

Kona should be a nice change from the traditional breakfast at the food court.

Anyone ever eat at Tony's at MK?

PS, Steph, glad I could make you laugh!!!!

Rlander-- I think I shared this with you at our lunch, but can't remember for sure... so CP was not a good experience for us... hopefully it was an off day... I think the food was okay, but the characters were not near as active as Chef Mickey's... maybe we were spoiled...

I hope you have a great experience and enjoy the atmosphere... we were looking for character interacation not so much food...

We ate at Tony's back in '96 and thought it was good. That was a long time ago and a lot could have changed since then. We had PSs there in July but cancelled at the last minute.

Jeff, We ate at the CP for dinner and Tony's too. I raved about them in my trip report...both were excellent!:)

I have to agree with Willbegone though on Boatwright's.
We ate there 3 years ago when we stayed at POR and it was AWFUL!
It is the NOISIEST restaurant in all of WDW and the food was disappointing. I remember wishing we had spent the money in a world showcase restaurant.:hmmm

Re: New restaurants for us!!!

Here are my opinions, on places I have eaten:

Crystal Palace for dinner at 5:45pm - **We enjoyed this one a lot!

Kona Cafe for breakfast @ 8:30am - Did this and really enjoyed it...**I am not a coffee drinker, but DH is and he loved it! I had the Tonga Toast and it was YUMMY!!!

ESPN for lunch @ noon - **I really liked this place, too! We have been here a bunch of times...They have the best chicken wings I have ever had!!!

We are not big seafood fans, so the Crap House is out.
**Jeff, I am not a seafood eater AT ALL and I LOVE this place. The food is DELICIOUS...I have had steak both times that I was there and it was just AMAZING...like butter. They have other things there besides seafood, so don't rule it out...
