Romantic Dinner Choice

on our upcoming vacation we decided that since our DSons 14,16 are old enough to go to the parks by themselves we decided on a nice romantic dinner alone.

we have decided on LeCellier. have never eaten there before so we do not know what to expect. menu fits what my DW would like to eat (picky eater) me i am an adventurous eater so it does not matter to me.

is the atmosphere romantic? are there many families with young children there?

this is a special dinner with a very special lady :heart so i really want this night to be as close to perfect as it can get.

thanks
tom

For romance and steak, I think there are two places that are probably better.

The first is a place that I haven't gone. Shula's Steakhouse at the Swan is supposedly very good, albeit a little pricey.

But for a quiet and very romantic dinner on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon, you should really look into Narcoossee's behind the Grand Floridian.

It has a terrific atmosphere and you can have cocktails on the porch and you might even see the floating parade (although maybe I'm dating myself.. do they still do that?) In any case, I think Narcoossee's is great for romance.

By the way, you can get recent menus at www.allearsnet.com.

Good luck,

Yep, they still have the water pagent thing. The first time I saw it, I felt like it was a haunting. It looked like something from the 70's being all bright lights (anyone have a Lite-Brite as a kid?) and floating along to corny canned music. It was like either an apparaition, or something that Disney had forgotten about that got left switched on (like the lights in that model that got walled in with the Owl who was supposed to talk about that new mountain area of the park). Of course, it's really real, contains a songs from the 80s and 90s, and is listed on the info sheet about the Contemp. so Disney knows they're doing it. :)

I too would say Canada is not the most "romantic" (I loathe that word) choice. It's kinda dark all around there, and forest-y. Have you looked into the California Grill (pricy, but great atmosphere - especially if you catch it during the fireworks) at the Contemporary? Also in Epcot the Mexican restaurant is great and highly recommended by posters here. We're going to try the Italy one for the first time this May (fingers crossed!), and haven't ever been to the French one, so I can't comment on those. Flying Fish at the Boardwalk was elegant and "adult" and <gag> "romantic", as is Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge (although their food is a bit more exotic). I've never been to the GF restuarants -- Citricos and N-something, I think it is -- but those seem like great places too. The Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht club serves steaks, but it's a little less "intimate" in there than at the other places.

Oh, one more!! Dinner at Cinderella's Castle. It sounds corny, but it isn't. It's like a castle inside, and there aren't any characters or anything like that at dinner . The only odd thing is the servers are dressed in miedevial costumes and call you "My Lord" and "My Lady". And during the fireworks -- wow!!! Our last trip there we accidentally wound up there during the fireworks and at a table right at the window. It was so MAGICAL ;) that we cancelled our California Grill reservations that we'd had in an attempt to have that experience.

I'm afraid you won't find the atmosphere at Le Cellier very romantic. The food is fine, some of it quite good, actually, but I find the restaurant's atmosphere pretty austere. There isn't much in the way of decorations, and, as the name implies, you're basically in a windowless cellar. Although not as family oriented as many WDW restaurants, you are likely to find quite a few children dining with their parents.

If it's romance you want, there is nothing more special than Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian. It's WDW's premier fine-dining restaurant, and the overall experience is incomparable. V&A's rolls out the red carpet for its diners, including a personalized menu to take home and a red rose for every lady.

Victoria & Albert's dining room seats just 60 in very intimate surroundings, and the menu is changed daily. The restaurant is one of 55 in the country that enjoys Five Diamond status from the American Automobile Association, an award it has received four years in a row.

Bottom line, Victoria & Albert's is expensive, but I guarantee it's a dining experience you'll always remember.

Do you have a car?

;)

Do you have a car @ Disney?

We go to Celebration. Less crowds.
Our favorite romantic resteraunt is Columbia Resteraunt.
We go on each of our trips (2 times' yearly) and our kids are Disneyquest, ours are 11 and 15.
Since dh and myself work we really relish the romantic time we have together on vacations, and the quietness is well worth the price of the meal.

I enjoy the atmosphere, romantic and intimate. They have the best home ade Sangria!

You could also try Celebration Hotel for dinner or drinks.
Nice piano bar.
