Great place to watch the fireworks from!!! ( Have done it many times... back to when it was top of the court .. dating my self now). The observation deck at C.R. is also a great place to view. The food is very good...... on the $$$ side, but I think that you get what you pay for..

Enjoy, and welcome to DC!!!!

First, welcome to DC!

I agree with timsha. It is wonderful! I've only done it once last December, but we have definitely added it to our October trip! We were only there for drinks and desserts, but they were really great!
Have fun planning!
:)

Rafikiman & I ate there during the fireworks in Oct. It was our first time there & we absolutely loved it! It's now on our must-do list. Yeah, it's a little on the expensive side, but everything is wonderful...food, service, atmosphere, the whole thing! It was just the 2 of us & we had a little table right at the window & when the fireworks started they dimmed the lights in the restaurant & the music was piped in & it was the most enjoyable MK fireworks experience I have ever had. The servers left everyone alone during the show & just let them enjoy. Such a wonderful, romantic experience!

You're right, Joe, it was called Top of the World. The Top of the World featured a dinner-club atmosphere with dancing and live music. It was a great place, especially on New Year's Eve.

The Top of the World gave way to the California Grill in 1996.

As others have said, the California Grill is a fine restaurant with wonderful food and service. When the MK fireworks begin, the lights in the restaurant are dimmed and the soundtrack is piped in through speakers. You can either remain at your seat, or go outside to the viewing area.

The menu changes periodically, but one of the things that's always on it is the oak-fired beef filet. If you like steak, it's better than anything you've ever had -- even at the high end places like Ruth's Chris and Morton's. Check out the California Grill menu.

My four friends and I ate dinner at the California Grill in November of 2003 and saw Wishes from there. It was amazing and one of the best moments of our trip. It ended up being timed so perfectly that we had just finished our dinner when they dimmed the lights, so we got to see the show in between our dinner and dessert. The timing was a complete accident but was just perfect!!

There were 5 of us, so we couldn't be accomodated at a table right by the window but we definitely still had a good view from our seats.

The food was delicious and the service was great as well. I would definitely recommend it. We had a great time and I will defintely do it on future trips. It was the priciest of our meals, but worth every penny. We treated it as a special girls night out treat!

The food and view are great. It is expensive and the food is a little different I guess. But you should enjoy it! We go there once a trip!

I can remember going to a dinner show at the top of the world in 1982. The CMs sang Broadway tunes. We had awesome seats right in the front. It was great!
