Which is better? If you KNOW you're going to be at a restaurant at 6:00, should you make a reservation or arrange for priority seating? Does one allow you more flexibility, say, if you might be late or want to arrive in a certain time frame? Is it like a priority list but without a certain set time? For instance, can I make a priority seating arrangement at a certain restaurant and just arrive at any time during that night?
OK Disney doesn't take an actual reservation they take Priority Seatings or PS's. The plus to a PS is that it puts you ahead of the million other bums there waiting to get in, and there is no penalty for not showing. Disney does prefer that you cancel, but if you don't show the PS Police are not going to show up at your resort looking for you. They do give you a time that you need to show up at, and you should be fairly prompt especially if it is a busy time of year. You can book multiple PS's for one dinner so that if you are closer to one than the other you can choose.

The only resturaunts that I know of that do take an actual reservation is CRT and Fantasmic! Package. In this case you call ahead to book it, and they take your credit card and will charge you $10 dollars per person if you do not show up. I believe that there is a resturaunt at the Swan and Dolphin that does the same.

Hope this clears things up!

Thank you...yes it definitely does! From what I am gathering I need to make a list of restaurants that we are interested in that are close to where we are going to be on certain days, and then make priority seating arrangements for those. I gather I call the restaurant directly to do this - correct? And it's alright to make a priority seating arrangement at one...or more...restaurant...right? (I feel guilty asking that)

Re: Priority Seating vs. Reservations

You can make as many PS's per day as you like! Many people make 3 (or more!) per day. For example, on December 27th you may want breakfast at the crystal palace in the MK and lunch at Tony's, and Dinner at O'hana in the Polynesian...

Although it is not a reservation, a Priority Seating is very very similiar.

Did you have a chance to read all the menus on www.allearsnet.com? Here is the link. Just choose the park or resort and then the restaurant...then you can read the menu and the prices! http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

Call 407 - WDW - DINE to make PS's

I'm pretty sure that you can make multiple PS's for the same time. I don't know if there's a way they can prevent that. (I don't think they would anyway)

Wow. Glad you told me that. Just called today and they only had 2 times (4 and 4:10) left for Hollywood & Vine, for the week I'm there in October. Geez, I guess more people know about this great seating than I thought. Either that or they only allow so many reservations for the package.

Thx again!

Or you can call toll free!!! 877-939-3732

If they have a problem booking more than one...make all the ones you want, call back after you've made the first set of PS's. When they ask for your phone number, use your cell or work phone number instead of your home number and put the PS under your spouses name! This is how I did it for my boss and his family. They told me I couldn't book some of the restaurnts for more than 12 people, or I would have to go to "group dining". So after I booked all the tables that I need in groups of 10, I then called back and made PS's for a similiar time under my bosses wifes name and booked the rest of the group on that PS.

Unless their are 2 showings of Fantasmic in one night, they always do the dinner packages before 4:30.

Once you get closer to your trip, if you notice that they offer two shows of Fantasmic the night you are going, call back, they probably will offer some later ones after 5:30. But unless you are going over Halloween or Columbus day, it is doubtful there will be more than one showing. But, at least you don't have to wait in line for it!!!

Re: Priority Seating vs. Reservations

Hello all!
This is my first post here, but I've been "lurking" for several weeks.

My family (DH, 4 yo DS and I) are headed for our first Disney vacation ONE MONTH from today!! We have all been before, but never the three of us together.

So, I have several PS's I'm interested in making...but here's my problem. Some of DH's family is meeting us down there (four more adults and two more kids)...I don't want to leave them out of my PS plans in case they want to eat with us, but I don't want to force my schedule on them either. SO...is it okay to make a PS for 9 and then only 3 show up?? I'm assuming there would be no penalty, since there isn't one for not showing up at all, but I thought I'd check with the experts! ;-)

Thanks for all the info on this wonderful site!! I can't wait to get to "know" you all better....I think this Disney thing will definitely become an annual tradition for the 3 of us!

Thanks!!
Allyson

(I haven't figured out all this countdown stuff....but I'm at 30 days!!)

Re: Priority Seating vs. Reservations

Allyson:

Great job on the countdown.

As far as the PS's, go ahead and make them for nine, but you should plan on modifying the PS once you figure out if people won't be joining you.

As this thread explains, a PS really isn't a reservation, so it's not like you'll be taking a reservation away from anyone. They do expect a certain percentage of no-shows. However, I still think that common courtesy should prevail and there are Guest Relations phones all over the place, so rescheduling shouldn't be difficult.

I hope you have a great trip.
