Sword in the Stone?
I thought I recalled reading something about the Sword in the Stone at WDW? Do they do a little production with pulling the sword from the stone?

Re: Sword in the Stone?
Yep, it's over by the carousal in Fantasyland. Check with the CMs for timing, but it's a lot of fun, especially for the kids...ooops, that's all of us, right?

Re: Sword in the Stone?
It's been a while seen I have seen the show, but, no, the sword is not pulled out as I recall. It's a cute little show.

Re: Sword in the Stone?
As I remember it, Merlin the Magician starts off the show, sort of explaining how they're looking for someone to pull the sword out of the stone. Lots of interaction and laughter with the crowd who gathers. He chooses two children from the crowd. One is Prince Arthur, the other one, his servant, who gets to hold his cape, etc. It's really cute and funny. And as I recall, Prince Arthur does pull Excalibur from the stone.

Re: Sword in the Stone?
Yea, Merlin chooses his "Arthur" at the beginning of each show, and at the end, "Arthur" does pull the sword out of the stone. I think they say he is "King for a day" or something like that. It's a pretty cute show.

Re: Sword in the Stone?
the first show of the day I think is the one where someone gets "chosen" ..but the show happens a couple of times a day ...we have seen it and its stilll a lot of fun. One year my DH was chosen to try ..but it wasnt the first show of the day, and I believe the only ones to actually pull the sword out are children :)

Re: Sword in the Stone?
A few years back, I was chosen from the crowd to try and pull the sword from the stone. Merlin chose a few of us and it was indeed a youngster who was able to pull the sword from the stone. I'll try to find snapshots we have of the "ceremony" and post them. It was really fun - especialy since Sword in the Stone was my favorite Disney movie as a kid!
