Water park at beginning or end of trip?

We are debating whether to do Blizzard beach at the beginning or end of our trip. Currently we are planning to go to Blizzard Beach on our first full day. My wife is concerned about a couple of things. One, getting burned on our first day. OUCH!! We are very white people from Ohio. LOL!!! Second, if someone gets injured early on, the rest of the trip will be a bummer.

I guess I'm answering my own question. What do y'all think?

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

I'm usually way too excited to see Cinderella's Castle or Spaceship Earth to spend day 1 at a water park, but that's just me. If this is not a problem for you guys, I don't see any problem with it. Just wear lots of sunscreen.

I guess there is always a chance you could get hurt, but I would think the risk is not nearly big enough that you should change your plans.

Of course if someone does get hurt, I'm sure you will hunt me down.

We usually pick a day in the middle to hit a water park, and stay all day long. Still gives us time to hit EPCOT for dinner. I agree with mmouse, I would be too excited to go the first day, and the last day, I would wish I was in the parks instead of at the water park.

We are flying in and will get to our resort around 4:00p. On our first night, we are going to MK to eat at CP. Then hit some rides and watch Wishes. The next morning we are eating at CRT, then leaving for the water park. So we will have had our initial experience of MK.

It happens to work out that our first full day is an early entry for MGM, which we plan to do later in the week.

I agree with you Mickey. The middle does seem better than the end. We are going to spend our last half day at MK.

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

We were planning to do a day in the middle of our trip so we don't get "parked out". Although in our case, we stick to the wimpy rides that are unlikely for us to get hurt. No Summit Plummit for us.

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

I would say some place in the middle of the trip. I say this but I am looking at fitting a water park in on our last full day of our July trip. We haven't been to a WDW water park in years so I am trying to fit a day in some place during our summer trip. I like for our first and last day to be at MK even if it is only for a few hours, I just have to have my fix of the MK to feel like I am really at WDW.

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

We have scheduled our water park day near the end of our trip, but not on the last day. I had wanted to do it more in the middle, but we decided to do it during the day that we have Mickey's Backyard BBQ scheduled, and the CM told me that it is only done on Tuesdays. So, that's just kind of how it worked out. I think it will be good that way though, we'll definitely be ready for a more relaxing day after 4 days at the parks!

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

I'm with Mickey and DisneyTeacher on this one... right in the middle, is best. However, given the choice, I'd lean towards the end.

Water parks can actually be a good way to rest, believe it or not. I also think that sunburn is a good thing to be concerned about as well. As far as getting hurt... well... don't dive into the shallow end and no running!

We're waiting until our 5th day (6 day trip) only because I didn't want to do La Nouba and a water park on the same day, but we're doing it in the morning, and plan to head back to the resort around 2ish for a nap.

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

Our first time we thought the kidds were big enough for the parks we went towards the end and made time each day after for either a water park or pool because the kidshad so much fun in the water. We wished we found out they were really old enough earlier in the trip as we would have gone more.

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

We went in the middle of our trip. My DD (lawwin) did get hurt at Blizzard beach. Watch out for those slippery mats on the slides, don't step on them. I think I would still go in the middle again.
But I have another question for you. You are going to CRT for breakfast at MK. Then to the water park. Do you have an annual pass or ultimate park hopper? If not then you are using a day in the park just for breakfast.

We have a dream package so we get an ultimate park hopper plus. We are going to MK for breakfast, then blizzard beach, then MGM for the evening Fantasmic show.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will change BB to the end of our trip. The second last day.

Re: Water park at beginning or end of trip?

you may get sunburned no matter what you do first all depends on the time you go and you all can get hurt no matter where you go. just be careful and have a great time!! Sometimes I put the parks names into a hat and let my kids pick and thats what we do first but we go to wdw long enough that we can go to each park 2 times per vacation so we can make sure we dont miss anything. have a magical trip
