May crowd reports

Hello everyone. We are leaving for WDW Saturday 5/22. Anyone have any idea of how the crowds have been the last few days?

Thanks!

Re: May crowd reports

Since DW and I live in Orlando, we've been going to Epcot once or twice a week for the Flower Power Concerts associated with the International Flower and Garden Festival. We haven't been to any park except Epcot, but the crowds there haven't been bad at all. Crowds are always bigger at the Magic Kingdom, but I suspect even there it's not too bad.

Crowds will start increasing, though, the further into the month you get as the summer approaches. Public schools are out in Orlando on May 27, so you won't be affected by that.

Re: May crowd reports

We were there a week ago and the crowds were not bad at all. We only went to MK and AK but we brought 5 kids with us. I don't remember waiting for much of anything but 15 to 20 min during the day . At night we just walked on to just about everything from the HM to SM, very steadily (sp)? quick moving lines that didn't seem long at all. We did stay VERY late, untill after 11 when possible.

Re: May crowd reports

During the first week of May, our general impression was that the crowds at MK were a bit heavier than we expected. That said, they weren't too bad. :)

Some rides had 30-40 minute wait times posted, but we used Fast Pass whenever available. It's remarkable! For rides without Fast Pass our average wait was 15-20 mins. For some "attractions" like Cinderella's Surprise Celebration, the crowd outside the castle was very thick. Frontier Land seemed especially congested, but other areas were wide open.

We noticed a few oddities; for example, the wait for Jungle Cruise was posted as 40 minutes, so we grabbed the Fast Pass and were set to come back in an hour. Then we practically strolled onto Pirates, which had a wait of less than 10 minutes ... twice! By the time we were done we still had time to stop for refreshments before going to Jungle Cruise.

In the evenings the crowds at MK were very thin, and Epcot was pleasant with hardly any crowds at all.

Enjoy your trip, and if the waits seem long then take advantage of Fast Pass. There is plenty to do while you are waiting.

Re: May crowd reports

We are leaving for WDW Saturday the 22nd also!! We always go the week before Memorial Day and for at least the last 2 years we have not experienced heavy crowds at any of the parks.

Re: May crowd reports

We were there from the 8th to 15th of May, we never used fastpass once, and the longset wait we had was about one 15 minute wait. We had over an hour wait for Testrack during the extra evening magic hours in Epcot, but that was because it broke down. We didn't like it much at all, all the hype for so little.
Funny though, when it broke down, one car was stuck in the cold room, they were shivering pretty bad when they finally got back.

Re: May crowd reports

Weather was fantastic! Highest was about 86. We wore light colored clothing so we never once felt "hot" at all. I think the second week of May will be our week from now on, unless we decide to do two trips a year, the second being the first or second week of December. For the second week of May, all the kiddies are still in school, and the parents figure they will wait another week or two to go so their kids don't miss any school.

We did Mission Space. We had about a ten minute wait to get on the ride. The entire ten minutes consisted mostly of the briefings and such. The first part is pretty good, after that, its kind of "blah." They really emphasize the motion sickness and enclosed, sometimes totally dark places warnings. You read them about twenty times before entering your seats. And they go over and over it in the briefings. Basically, to simulate taking off in a shuttle, then spin your pod thing really fast on a centrifuge (spelling?). There are about seven total pods per centrifuge. Thats why they say keep your head back, and don't look to the side. Because the centrifical force and spinning will really throw your equilibirum for a loop. Basically, its like riding the teacups, but spinning at about Mock 10. So if you keep your head back, and eyes forward, you are tricked and are not aware of the spinning, you think you are shooting forward. You turn your head, and your brain tries to squeeze out your ear.

We were kind of dissappointed in Mission Space, and really dissappointed on Test Track. Doubt I ever do Test Track again. I guess we got spoiled because our first full day was spent at MGM, with about 10 minute waits for Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, so we did them over and over. MS and TT just can't hang with them lol.
